LYS 2026 has come to an end, and here is what I have to share
Life is fleeting. Every person I met here felt as if I had spent an eternity getting to know them. Felt as though I was meant to meet every single one of these people. Austin was one hell of a roommate that I annoyed way too much. Avery was a beautiful soul who I’m infinitely glad I met. Gabe reminded me that even when I lost, there was room for growth. Cline reminded me that you can be creative and take charge without making others feel small. Caroline reminded me that wisdom does come from age, but experience in what you do. And Joe reminded me that you can find comfort in those who share experience, even from different walks of life. These are just a few of the people I met at LYS this year, but every single person I met I am glad to say I did. LYS is my home, and always will be. I regret to say I can never be a delegate again, but I am proud to say I once was. I love my LYS, and I pray that every single person who ever gets to go to LYS gets to feel the same love I felt through my 3 delegate years. taken in LSU by @clovers18347

I was cleaning my room and got a reminder of how great this summer was. I got to reread through all of these notes from people I would call a family and they just brought be back (even though LYS was only a couple months ago). So this is a gentle reminder for anyone who went to LYS to read through your notes, it’ll really hit harder than you expected lmao. Wish the best for the Bon Bons, and I hope everyone else from LYS, whether I met you or not, is succeeding in their lives <3

If I could recommend one thing I’ve done this summer, it would be this. LYS has taught me a lot about not just being involved in leadership, but it also showed that while people can be scary, it’s so worth it to get to know them. LYS is a memory I will hold near and dear to my heart because of the friends I’ve made there, friends I hope to know as long as I can. I didn’t have a choice in going, I’ll admit, and I honestly wasn’t too keen on going, but once I got there I was welcomed with open arms by the Bon Bons (our home group) and the stress I had dissipated as soon as we started decorating the room. So while I understand the idea of going away for a week with hundreds of teens you’ve never met is scary, I would suggest nothing more than to take that chance. I have all intentions to return for the next two years, and I can’t wait to meet even more amazing people through this camp
