The Charlotte Ultimate community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of our beloved friend, Lucy Endean. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit touched the lives of so many, leaving a lasting impact that will not be forgotten. Aside from her astonishing speed and abilities as a player, Lucy was an even more incredible teammate and friend. She was just the embodiment of sunshine, lighting up every room she entered and drawing people into her orbit by her unwavering commitment to helping those in need. While we mourn this tremendous loss, we also celebrate a life that brought people together, inspired others through her compassion, and helped make our community stronger.

Our hearts are with Lucy’s family, teammates, and friends as they navigate the overwhelming grief of losing someone they loved so dearly. There are no words that will ease the pain of this loss, but we hope they find comfort in the love surrounding them and in the countless lives Lucy touched during her short time with us. She will be greatly missed.

As a community, let us remember to support one another, to hold each other close, and to extend grace to those who may be struggling in silence. This grief will stick with us for a long time, but we hope it brings us together. As they say, “shared joy is a double joy; shared sorrow is half sorrow.” May we all remember to live like Lucy, fearlessly. For those interested in paying their respects, Lucy’s family will host a celebration of life at the Journey Church in Lake Wylie, SC, on Wednesday, July 8th at 11 am. Despite the sad nature of this event, guests are encouraged to wear something that would make Lucy smile (as she was wont to do). Instead of flowers, her family wishes to honor Lucy’s passions by donating to one of two organizations she cared for deeply:

1. The Wingate University Department of Occupational Therapy to a fund that will be earmarked to provide equipment to clinic clients who cannot afford it. Checks can be made payable to Wingate University, c/o Department of Occupational Therapy, P.O. Box 159, Wingate, NC 28174

2. Union Diversified Industries, where Lucy led service initiatives for her doctoral program (link in bio). by @cltultimate
