CLUSTER Museum tends the space where contemporary art and community meet bringing the visual into conversation with the literary and performative arts
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Saturday @clustermuseum • 7:30pm • Ann Arbor

Join musicians Fred Thomas, Sara Tea, and Garrett Schumann, as well as poet Hannah Ensor and writers Aisha Sabatini Sloan and Linette Lao, for an evening of music and words that honors the interdisciplinary legacy of CLUSTER Museum through ambient improvisation accompanying live readings. *UPDATE* Adina Schoem & Ami Walsh will be joining us to read their works as sadly Hannah Ensor & Aisha Sabatini Sloan won’t be able to join us.

This bold program embraces CLUSTER Museum’s spirit by emphasizing local voices, connections across artistic communities, and the determination to continue creating in spite of the world’s many obstacles. Through a soundscape of spoken writing and poetry, synthesizers, guitars, noise, and amplified objects, this event will celebrate the many ripples generated by CLUSTER Museum’s impact, and show how they will continue to resonate for a long time to come.

FREE with suggested donation $0-$10.
BYOB is welcome

CLUSTER Museum’s lease at 307 N. Main St. ends September 30 and after careful consideration, we’ve decided not to renew. Rent in downtown Ann Arbor keeps rising and, like many independent arts spaces, we’ve made the choice to keep our budget serving our mission.

CLUSTER Museum is committed to creating contemporary art experiences with and for Ann Arbor, so we see this as a pivot, not an end. Some of our best work has been in the partnerships we’ve made and our engagement with you. It reminds us that our strength was never the address, but what happens when people gather around the work. We’re part of a growing wave of independent arts organizations rethinking what a museum needs to be.

CLUSTER’s Core Intention #5: CLUSTER Museum is a work in progress, nimble and able to pivot, and we mean that as a commitment, not an apology.

Our Phase 2 plan shifts to a nomadic model, occupying unused and unusual spaces across Ann Arbor and Washtenaw County. This flexibility means making art accessible in places you least expect, and engaging new neighbors with each event series. As we adjust to this new model, our pace will shift too, until CLUSTER Museum finds its next home.

Stay connected through our newsletter and social media for upcoming events and locations, and ways to stay involved.

In the meantime, we will see you in September for some fun events! by @clustermuseum

"When I walk up to the hot pink façade of Cluster Museum on Main, I often get a little jolt of excited anticipation," writes Onna Solomon in this year's City Guide. "I never know what artist I might meet, what new creative work I might experience, what spark of conversation might ignite me." Read all about it in "The Collective Process of Creation" on our website, at the link in bio, and in your 2026–27 edition of the Ann Arbor Observer's annual City Guide. by @clustermuseum

Drawing with Words: Visual Poetry Workshop

 ✨✨Registration Link in bio✨✨

Thursday, August 6, 2026
7:00 PM 8:30 PM

CLUSTER Museum
307 North Main Street Ann Arbor, Michigan, 48104 United States

What does a visual art piece make you feel in your body? What emotions and sensations does it invoke? How can we use it to spark our own creativity?

In this workshop, we will slow down and listen to our body as we spend time with the artwork in the current exhibition,In the Shadow of the Hand. We will observe and map sensations and use them as a guide to create our own visual poems.

Participants will leave with an abstract drawing that includes their poetry (Visual poem) as well as additional writing observations to create new work at home.

Register at Cluster Museum Events Page for this workshop. Max 8 participants.

Sliding scale fee $25-$35. Workshop fee includes all writing & drawing materials and guided instruction.
