WHAT THE CLUTCH? ⚙️

CLUTCH is a queer, African-Caribbean descendant global club & bass collective throwing POC-to-the-front nights for queer & trans people who wanna party to global underground sounds 🌍🪅🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

We see queer clubbing and music as sacred places of expression, community and world-building ✨ We also believe in these dangerous and scary times, FUN and silliness is a radical and beautiful art 💋

But we were DONE seeing global club & bass squeezed into one lonely set at queer nights, or pushed off the floor at music-driven raves.

We were missing a dykey, queer, bass-hungry rave where global majority sounds play all night long 🥵🥵🥵

So this is our offer to the CLUTCH community - a music-centred global club party that has fun as it’s foundation, a silly sexy space for dykes and dolls and queers who really want to dance

P.S. ❤️❤️ We know that there is a beautiful growing community of queer and trans poc centred spaces that play alternative sounds but there are still too few places for qtpoc DJs to flex their skills. We want to offer both new and established DJs a new place to be able to play the music they want to with crowds that get it - if this is you, come along say hey and hit us up for future sets

As Trans Pride approaches, we thought we'd do what we know how to do best: throw a fucking party.

You know the vibe: two queer collectives making space for queer, trans, non-binary, diasporic and global majority people to move, connect and feel fully seen.

Been finding it hard to put into words how special CLUTCH was last week wow 😍🥹🥹

We’ve been talking and scheming about putting on a night together for a while now but really only decided to do this properly in October. It’s been a mad one figuring out promotion and how to build the kind of night we want to go to. We had no real experience, no funding and no idea what to expect - call it naivety or the kind of reckless spirit London’s club scene needs rn 😁🫡

Well safe to say we did the damn thing AND MORE. Sold out, ppl trying to sneak in, over £1k raised for @hope_and_play_charity 🇵🇸and a selection of DJs that was beyond really our wildest dreams. The crowd was impeccable, proper DIY rave chaotic club energy the whole way through, just like we wanted 😈

So THANK YOU to all who made the night so special. Especially to our incredible DJs:

Allow us to introduce you to the incredible charity CLUTCH is supporting tonight ❤️ @hope_and_play_charity 🇵🇸

CLUTCH believes in clubbing as community which is not just a trite statement but one we want to back up with material solidarity.

Like many of you, we have watched the genocide in Palestine for the past two years with horror. 77 years since the Nakba, 77 years of dispossession and violent displacement. 58 years of occupation. A regime in the West Bank that most human rights organisations correctly call an apartheid. 20,000 children killed by Israeli forces since October 2023. We are repulsed by it. No one is free until Palestine is free. And at a march back in October when CLUTCH was just a whisper in our imagination, we decided we wanted this night to be in aid of Palestine. So 100% of profits from our party are going straight to @hope_and_play_charity 🇵🇸❤️

Hope and Play support children and families in Gaza who’ve been displaced by bombardment and are living in tents and school shelters with little access to food, water or medicine. Their teams are distributing emergency food, clean drinking water, hygiene supplies, medicine and cash so families can buy what they need to survive.

They also run tent schools, play sessions, arts, sports and puppet theatre for children who haven’t had access to school or safe spaces for over a year. This work gives kids routine, care and moments of relief in conditions no one should have to live through.

All profits from your tickets goes straight to this work, and if you’re a thirsty crowd we’ll be able to donate our deposit from behind the bar as well! 🍻🥂🍸
