Been using this stereo setup with a few swap out spots for the new Claymation recordings. There will be 8 tracks on the, yet to be titled, album. Most tracks will also feature field recordings accompanying the guitarscapes to further build the atmospheres.

This will be somewhat of a return to where I started with this project in terms of the guitar recording process (all live, no overdubs etc). I haven’t done a Claymation album in 10 years and it feels good to be back in this space and embracing myself. Looking forward to sharing this with the world 🧌🐚🦾 by @clymtn

New cab sounds killer, affectionately named “karma cab” now. I spent a few hours drilling out some broken screws on the back plate. Got that all situated and fixed. Replaced the broken screws and then tested the speakers. I was told the speakers were blown and the cab was nonfunctional. Low and behold the speakers work great and the cab sounds awesome. Sometimes a little love goes a long way. Playing an @ashpond_amplification Desolator through the Traynor and crushin out to a lightning storm ⚡️ by @clymtn

So these speakers were in the black EVH cab and I decided to swap them to my oversize Science 212 after I had yet another voice coil fry in a redback. I actually think these sound better in an oversized enclosure and seem to be a better fit for my Science Amps anyway.

Luckily I had a pair of 16 ohm red backs sitting in boxes so I was able to throw these into the EVH cab. Hopefully The Voice coils don’t end up melting in these as well. On the bright side, these seem to be a better fit with the Traynor than the Creams were.

The Science 212 was wired in series as it was a 16 ohm cab so I had to craft some new speaker leads so I could wire it in parallel for an 8 ohm load since the creams are 16 ohm speakers.

This is one of the old red backs that I originally bought back in 2017 or so and I think they were a fairly new speaker at the time but I could be wrong. This is the second one that I’ve had fry in the past year or so. I’ve also spoken to a few people who have had similar experiences with these. Not entirely sure what the issue is or if there was an older run of them that were defective in some capacity or possibly the voice coil isn’t vented properly and is prone to overheating. Either way it’s unfortunate as I do actually like the sound of these speakers, but I probably won’t be buying any new ones in the future. I did reach out to Celestion and sent them a message regarding the issues who knows maybe I’ll get a favorable response. by @clymtn
