Last Friday I had the honor of speaking to the @cm_dc audience on the topic of “Thriving Through Change”. Two years ago, I made a monumental change to leave a steady corporate job in Brand Strategy to bring art, my always “side thing”, front and center in my life. It took some massive shifts (mostly mental ones) to finally find my way to accepting and owning the title of Artist. To the beautiful community that filled the room, listened to my story, and gave me this stage: thank you. Giving the talk was *way* outside my usual comfort zone, but I’m so glad I took the leap; I left feeling buoyed by the experience and the very warm crowd of folks. I even had a receiving line of people who wanted to talk to me after—-what?!I wove a few messages into my talk, but the tl:dr; is: Life is too short and precious to only do things that weigh us down. I hope you find the things that makes life feel lighter and start making space for them. #CreativeMornings @creativemorning #printmaking #community Photos by the lovely: @tariqs_bad_art and @missashleyhill by @cm_dc

Our theme for April is EMBER. It was chosen by our Poulsbo chapter in Washington state and illustrated by Sarah Gordon (@sarahgordondesign). Sarah is an artist and textile designer in Washington whose work is influenced by modern art, contemporary interiors, and quirky antique botanical illustrations. Our Poulsbo chapter had this to say about the significance of this month’s theme: “Embers remind us that even after challenges or change, something powerful remains—ready to reignite when needed. Together, we tend the quiet fire—fueling one another through presence, care, and shared warmth.”If you haven’t already, don’t forget to reserve your free ticket to our talk this Friday at the link in our bio. We’ll see you there! by @cm_dc
