This month's global CreativeMornings theme is ALTITUDE, and we're thrilled to welcome Skye Barker Maa to the CreativeMornings Denver stage on October 30th!

Skye is an arts entrepreneur, fashion designer, and educator who brings together creativity, culture, business, and community in exciting ways.

From fashion and artistic expression to entrepreneurship and education, Skye has dedicated her career to turning creative ideas into opportunities and helping others discover what's possible.

🏔️ ALTITUDE invites us to think about perspective, growth, and what happens when we dare to rise above the familiar.

Join us for a morning of fresh perspectives, creative inspiration, coffee, and connection with Denver's wonderful creative community!

Our theme for October is ALTITUDE. It was chosen by our Toowoomba chapter in Australia, illustrated by Alex Hotchin, and is presented by Adobe.

If you’re stuck, try going up.
Big ideas are often described as elevated. A flight of fancy. A lofty goal. A bird's-eye view of the problem. Blue-sky thinking.
Turns out it’s not just a figure of speech. Psychologists have found that being higher up, like on a rooftop or a mountain trail, changes how the mind works. People asked to think while in physically elevated locations generated more abstract ideas. While subjects at ground level tended to think more literally.

We don't just use height as a metaphor for creativity; altitude seems to switch it on. Your perspective changes looking out from a skyscraper or a window seat at thirty thousand feet. Chaos becomes a pattern. The altitude gives us clarity. Suddenly, you can see the big picture and your place in it.

So, gain some altitude. Then come back down and make something worthy of the climb.

Our Toowoomba chapter had this to say about the significance of this month's theme:

What a beautiful morning to be in the CURRENT. 💜🌊

Fresh air. Hot coffee. Good friends. New friends. And a room full of people sharing what’s currently on repeat in their lives. ☕️🎶

We had incredible 30-second pitches! Be on the lookout in next week's newsletter!

Then Dave Ashton took us into the CURRENT of media and culture: current events, what’s the vibe, the state of media, and even some of the things that might be a little tough on the ears. Dave stressed that we can’t be impartial. We have to pay attention, listen, engage, and be willing to hear what’s actually being said.

And THEN… because this is CreativeMornings… Dave and a fellow rapper jumped into an impromptu performance from Tha Neo Politan. 🎤🔥

Coffee + conversation + community + hip hop before most people have finished their first cup?!

Yep. That’s a CreativeMorning. 💜

⚡ DENVER, MEET YOUR SEPTEMBER SPEAKER! ⚡

We’re tuning into a seriously good CURRENT this month. 📻💜

Meet Dave Ashton, aka Deeprawk Dave: longtime radio personality, hip hop artist, former skateboard-world wanderer, and a guy whose story has taken some wonderfully unexpected turns.

For 12 years, Dave has been behind the mic, sharing music, stories, and community over the airwaves. But his journey to radio? Let’s just say it includes everything from Think Skateboards in San Francisco to a hot dog stand in Chicago, a Deep Rock Water route that helped inspire his nickname, and a lifelong love affair with hip hop that started when he got his first Grandmaster Flash record at age 8. 🎧

Friday September 25th, Dave joins CreativeMornings Denver to explore our global theme: CURRENT.

Meet our CreativeMornings Denver co-host, the magnificently bearded Mr. Joe Mills! Joe is an adventurer, creative human, longtime member of the Rocky Mountain Beard & Mustache Club, and one of Brandi’s besties and bandmates of nearly 20 years. Together, they make a perfectly mismatched hosting duo: Brandi brings the heart, enthusiasm, and probably a few feelings before 9 a.m.; Joe brings the exceptionally dry humor, impeccable comedic timing, and considerably fewer feelings. He loves a good adventure, a good story, and apparently growing facial hair competitively. Our theme for September is CURRENT. It was chosen by our Columbia chapter in Missouri, illustrated by Bethanie Irons, and is presented by Adobe.

What’s current? That new release at the top of the charts. Breaking news. The latest and greatest.

The crackling buzz of an electric current coursing through power lines to light up a neon sign.

The flow of a river always moving downstream. The constant push and pull of the ocean’s tide.

What new ideas and fresh executions are surging inside you? Sometimes you have to grab hold of your creativity like a live wire to spark something shockingly unexpected. While other times, you just need to go with the flow and see where it takes you.

Our Columbia chapter had this to say about the significance of this month’s theme:

"Current invites reflection on where we are now and where we’re headed. Socially, creatively, environmentally, and personally. It’s a theme that offers room for depth, urgency, movement, and connection.”

This morning was something special. 🌴💛

Our CreativeMornings Denver gathering for NAKHLAH was filled with inspiration, connection, resilience, and so many reminders of what can grow when we refuse to break.

Our speaker, Frank Anello, shared the incredible journey of Project Worthmore and the story of learning to bend, but never break. Through every challenge, every unexpected turn, and every person who joined the journey along the way, Frank kept moving forward. And what Project Worthmore has grown into today is extraordinary.

The morning also felt like a reunion. 🥹 So many people from different chapters of Frank’s journey were there, people who have encouraged, supported, partnered, volunteered, believed, and helped shape the roots that now run so deep.

After our gathering, CreativeMornings friends were invited to tour the Roots Campus and see the impact firsthand: dental and medical care, a food market, community resources, and life-giving support for immigrants and refugees beginning again in a new home.

People who have been uprooted are being given the space, resources, community, and love to put down new roots. 🌱

THAT is NAKHLAH.

What an incredible morning. What an incredible community. And what a beautiful reminder that sometimes the strongest things aren't the ones that never bend. They're the ones that bend, endure, keep growing, and become shelter for others. 🌴
