Let’s take our creativity to new heights. ☁️ October’s theme is ALTITUDE!

Chosen by our Toowoomba chapter in Australia, illustrated by Alex Hotchin, and presented by Adobe, ALTITUDE invites us to rise above the familiar and see what’s possible from a fresh perspective.

A lofty goal. A flight of fancy. A little blue-sky thinking. If you’re feeling stuck, try going up. ✨

Our next CreativeMornings STL event is October 30! Stay tuned for more details in the coming days.

showed up with my whole heart today.
wish you all could’ve been there.
grateful to all that were able to attend.

i explained how i traded air speed for “altitude” & a bird’s eye view 😘 … slowing down just enough to begin flying away from sabotage & shame … towards what i WANT.

and just as importantly, i asked others to write & share what they WANT as well. there’s science behind doing both to help get you where you WANT to go.

yes.. i teach sketching but my bigger goals will always be “creating belonging” and “inspiring hope.”

thank you as always to @bowoodfarms for allowing us use The Studio for this special event with so many attendees that had never been across the alley.

p.s. if you took any photos, please send them my way. i only managed to take the one outside before getting started.

p.p.s. i’d also love to hear any favorite takeaways & learnings that i should carry forward as i go ❤️

The pressure to compete and always be your best can feel overwhelming. 💭

In our July talk on COMPETITION, Tre Davis goes deeper into that feeling, drawing on his experience helping others—including young people whose most visible role models are athletes—and exploring what that means for how they see success and their own potential.

This clip is just part of the conversation. Watch the full talk through our link in bio! ✨

SURPRISE BONUS CMSTL EVENT 🚨✨

And somehow… it’s CreativeMornings at night. 😂🌙

We’re teaming up with @stldesignweek on Thursday, October 8 for a really special evening celebrating the legacy of @mocra.slu and the creation of Pursuing the Spirit, a new book commemorating the museum’s 33-year history.

We’ll be joined by David Brinker, Nate Sprehe + Sarah Fields of @sprehestudio, and John Heaney of @advertisersprinting to talk about how this local creative team brought the book to life in less than a year — preserving decades of MOCRA history through design, storytelling, collaboration, and print.

AND every attendee gets a complimentary copy of the book. 👀📖
📅 Thursday, October 8
⏰ 6:30–7:30 PM
📍 .ZACK Theatre
🎟️ FREE

We’d love to see a bunch of familiar CMSTL faces there — and some new ones too. 💛

flying back into action after 3 weeks of adventures (!) — and basically no reception or internet while cruising around Europe with my two babes.

to say i am recharged AND energized to dive back into The Studio @bowoodfarms would be an understatement. no “Sunday Scaries” here. i barely know what day it is and have no clue what mountain is in the background of the best family selfie of all time …but i do know Mount Etna on the island of Sicily was our favorite volcano to view from various locations.

AND that i’m also thrilled to be home. both can be true.

what a beautiful thing to jump back into a life i’ve spent years creating — to have this feeling of joy following a vacation vs the desire to run from my everyday is pure magic.

i’m also excited to announce that i’ll be sharing more about my story — AND the risks i took to get here — on Friday, October 30th by hosting a FREE @creativemorning event in our space ( behind @bowoodbyniche ) thru @cm_stlouis …

the theme is “altitude” — how fitting for this bird.
🦅

i’ll be updating my @stl_org presentation about “Creating What You Want” & adding a hands on sketching component to the end. you better believe after surviving two 11 hour flights with a 15-month old i’ve got LOTS to say!

stay tuned for information about RSVPing / tickets.

(thank you @rachel.helden for the opportunity! 🙏)

p.s. i also have to admit that the anxiety of traveling that long with a wee one *almost* got the best of me beforehand but WE DID IT. And my song choice for this post has me wanting to recommend a favorite book on my journey the past few years +++ a highlighted quote that couldn’t be more true — #themountainisyou by @briannawiest

can’t wait to share more pics!
