Chip Barrett, Everyday Epiphanies.

Everyday Epiphanies was a single night installation at Gina Raster that unfolded in various rooms of our home. In the courtyard of the building Chip installed a spotlight that simulated a constant sunset effect above our couch. Typically this is where we invite artists to display their tiled “raster” works, this time created using the window frame’s shadow. The lighting allowed for the night to unfold seemingly out of time, creating a golden hour that lasted throughout the evening.

In the rest of the space, Barrett invited selected participants to learn specific skills for the first time. In the living room, Max May was plucking away at a guitar, teaching himself a song. In the dining room Nick Lee instructed Vincent Hernandez in perfecting various card tricks, who then shared their skills with various visitors. In the kitchen Jax Hunnewell taught Abhishek Kulkarni how to bake chocolate chip cookies. These were served warm throughout the evening with tall glasses of milk.

Thank you to everyone who attended, we are looking forward to sharing more updates on programming soon !

Thanks so much @rzs.rzs.rzs @theboxla and all of the people who have helped with this show. It’s really surreal to be surrounded by these artists. The show is up until January 17th, and there is a walkthrough this Saturday, December 20th, from 12-1 PM.

Thanks Max, Piero, Angela, Vincent and everyone who helped me figure this out.♥️ by @cmbarrett123

This week I installed my thesis on the anniversary of Augie’s death. The work and ideas mean everything to me. I’d love if you could stop by sometime this week or come to the opening Thursday. Love,
Chip. PS it’s in the A402 Gallery ***Exhibition by @cmbarrett123

Even after a year it’s still impossible to capture in words what you mean to me Augie. This past year hasn’t made much sense at all. There’s been countless things I wished I could talk to you about. Through all of it I’ve just wished that you were still here. I know the world would be better off with you in it, and I genuinely hope you know how much we all love you. I can’t thank you enough for everything you’ve given me. Nothing can ever take away your love and light.

I miss you Augie.

Please reach out to me if you ever feel hopeless, I care. ❤️ by @cmbarrett123
