Idea #17 is with Ward 6 Council Member Charles Allen 🎉

We talked with council member Allen at @hillfamilybiking 's back to school bike ride, and his idea for replacing a parking spot with space for music really resonated with us.

It's also very timely because TOMORROW is Capitol Hill's first ever Porch Fest! Be sure to check out @capitolhillporchfest for all the details 🎶 by @cmcharlesallen

👨‍⚖️ A big day after Tuesday's legislative session.

We had final passage on Eric's ID, which allows individuals who have non apparent disabilities to have a marker on their ID (a butterfly in this case 🦋). When a first responder or law enforcement sees this on a license, they'll be able to quickly understand the type of interaction they could have.

🔌 My bill on autoenrollment just went through its first passage today, which helps ensure 30,000 households in DC, who are eligible for utility assistance, get that relief automatically.

🚅 🚌 And we just gave approval to contracts for WMATA and DDOT to get the project going at Stadium-Armory Metro station to expand. And this includes getting the ball rolling on the Gold Line. 🏅

🌞 🍂 And then, we gave approval to the COOLS Act which helps change the date when heating and cool has to start in the fall and spring (which I've heard from plenty of my Southwest neighbors about!). taken in John A. Wilson Building by @cmcharlesallen

HUGE thank you to all of our park partners for making the welcome back party a success yesterday! Thank you @howltothechief @chippintime @pawsandjoy.bakery @trailtailsdc and Troop 44059 for the time, treats, and fun you provided to all of the dogs. And huge thank you to @cmcharlesallen @dcdpr and our ANC6A leaders for making the new park happen and supporting the journey. And finally, thanks to all of our volunteers who helped with dog painting, pup cups, and merch. We raised some great money for ongoing park maintenance and by the looks of the pictures, I think all of the dogs had a pretty good time!! taken in Kingsman Dog Park by @cmcharlesallen

I wrote a letter with Councilmembers Wendell Felder and Zachary Parker to the National Capital Planning Commission urging them to send the RFK Master plan back to the drawing board to better address parking concerns.

The size of the parking lot closest to Kingman Park is enormous – roughly 3,500 spaces proposed, which would be larger than all of the parking at Nats Park which has only 1,200 spots for a stadium with capacity north of 41,000 fans. The second parking lot, located closer to the river, is proposed at 2,500 spots.

So while the RFK Master Plan presents some wonderful images of what this could look like when it is all done, there are some significant issues we need to address right away. by @cmcharlesallen
