Went for a hike this morning. It was a lovely (though wet) time. There wasn't anyone on the trails so had some opportunities to take some photos.

Went for a hike in the Hillsborough Conservation Park from the MorisnBrjdge entrance. The Bald Cypress trail portion was drop dead gorgeous, definitely suggest if your looking a quick but beautiful hike in the Tampa area. #hiking #Outdoors #Tampa

After the thunderstorms last night, nature was out in force with bird song and frog choruses. Got to just vibe for bit and feel like I was just somewhere else! taken in Thonotosassa, Florida by @cmdrbratliff

My current "oldest continuously played character" Tromand Brattliff.

I tried to go back to early games and albums and find photos of how this costume developed over time and was surprised to find that it hadn't really. From pretty much the first event, I had captured the aesthetic from a green jerkin/gambeson, fantasy brigandine, armed to the nines.

What did develop over time where the effects: weapons, trinkets, and other ephemera. Early on in my larping career (the last posts) I had over designed my look tons of weapons and useless equipment that got in the way. It took 40 mins to get ready and I quickly would start shedding things in play as I went.

If I had to share any advice from the evolution of this look is "dont be afraid to kill your darlings" you will find yourself undeserved by prioritizing on large props and accessories that you personally like that, ultimately, don't match with the character or your play style. Late game Bratliff may not look it, but had far less just "stuff" and more things with dedicated uses and meanings.

Have been going through old LARP photos to capture and archive them in a space that makes them easier to share. This was from an event called the Boasting Feast with the Dwarven community I LARP with.

The character is supposed to be a dwarf (a style of hard clean lines and broad simple iconography) with that of a neighboring desert dwelling peoples (who used more flow and ornate/intricate stylings). While there is still room to grow the look, I am very happy with how it looks as is.

Working on a new costume that I have been wanting for a while and am only now able to make real! The robe and hood were commissioned through a LARPer I know at mythic, the mask made by my lovely girlfriend Michelle.

Vetria shall rise!

In another life I was an electrician and we had ALOT of scrap wire laying around. So I got a bit creative and wove a tree out of it that i am pretty proud of!

This weekend I had the opportunity to play a character for the third time and have had 3-4 years to build the costume. At first I was angry with it (the construction is terrible) but it has grown into this awesome ensemble!

I got the chance to be the head of a house, raise up other players, and put the fear into other and a wonderful time doing so.
