Apparently, I have too many babies… 😂 On my birthday, they all conspired to give this old man a day to remember!

Babe ❤️ was the mastermind. She planned the whole thing, made sure I was well taken care of and then hit me with a hefty gift.

I always thought she could chop ma moni. Turns out she can give me a huge load! Madam has shown me who the real boss is. 😎

My son was also in on the plot, keeping Dad clueless and then gifting me a massage toy. At this age, greetings are now, “How are you feeling, old man?” 🤦🏾‍♂️

My @cmetrust babies lured me to the scene. My @paamojainitiative middle babies brought the fun, the trouble and the cameras. @vipodozi254 kept me smelling good, while the Oyoos came with the bag. Now you know the answer to “Bag ni ya nini?”

And my acting last born, @nyamnyamdishes? Matters Kf the stomach, of course!

What really got me, though, was seeing all these different parts of my life stop what they were doing to take care of me.

I spend most of my time building, serving and pouring into others. On my birthday, they poured right back. That was the real gift.

Thank you, my "babies." and especially my Babe, @njokivipodozi for reminding me that my birthday is not just another day, it's a day to reflect how blessed I am. You got me real good. 🥂🙏🏽♥️

Grateful. Blessed. And apparently very well looked after.

While in Harare, I had the opportunity to visit the @friendshipbenchhub , a safe and welcoming space founded by Dr. @chibandadixon who warmly welcomed me to the hub.

The Friendship Bench was founded with a powerful vision of bringing mental health support closer to communities at the grassroots level. At the hub, I got to learn about the many components that make this approach so unique and impactful.

I also had the opportunity to share more about the work we do at @cmetrust , as we look forward to welcoming Dr. Dixon in October.

Honestly, there is something special about the Friendship Bench that is difficult to put into words until you experience it yourself. The hub feels incredibly calm, therapeutic and welcoming, and I can understand why so many people have found comfort and healing through the hub.

Unfortunately, due to my tight schedule, I wasn't able to visit the communities and experience the Friendship Bench model on the ground. However, my visit to the hub, together with Dr. Dixon's detailed explanation, gave me a much clearer picture of how the model works and the difference it is making at the grassroots.

Thank you, Dr. Dixon, and the entire Friendship Bench Hub team, for the warm welcome and for creating such a beautiful and meaningful space. by @cmetrust

Every year, @haliaccess brings together college counsellors and university representatives for the annual Indaba. But this year was extra special it was not just another Indaba; it marked the 10th Anniversary of Access, and we took it back to where it all began: Harare, Zimbabwe. 🇿🇼

The four days were packed with inspiring, informative, and thought-provoking sessions featuring the founders, alumni, members, university representatives, and, of course, the icing on the cake, Dr.Fanta Aw.

What makes the Indaba so special is that it goes beyond the formal sessions. We spiced up the four days with morning walks, African games, trivia, storytelling, and plenty of opportunities to reconnect with old friends and build new connections.

For me, one of the most meaningful parts is always coming together with people who share the same passion for expanding access and creating new pathways to higher education.

It is always a great honour to represent @cmetrust and to be part of this incredible community working to make education more accessible to talented young people.

Thank you, HALI Access Network, for an unforgettable 2026 Indaba and for 10 incredible years of creating pathways and expanding access. This was, without a doubt, one of my favourite Indabas! by @cmetrust

On Monday, I was honoured to attend the inauguration of the #InuaBinti Program, a wonderful initiative by @paamojainitiative, @oasismathare , and @daredreamafrica.

I had the privilege of representing @cmetrust and sharing my personal journey beyond motherhood with the teenage mothers who will be undergoing training in employability and entrepreneurship skills.

I shared with them an important message: life does not stop after motherhood. Becoming a mother does not mean giving up on your dreams. It is a personal decision to choose yourself, pursue your dreams, and create a better future for yourself and your child. The journey may require sacrifices, courage, resilience, and the willingness to recognise and embrace opportunities when they come.

I am truly happy and proud of the incredible work these three organisations are doing to empower teenage mothers and young people within our community.

To all the young mothers embarking on this journey, I wish you the very best. Believe in yourselves, keep dreaming, and remember that motherhood is not the end of your story it can be the beginning of an even greater one. ❤️

Yesterday, something beautiful happened!

@paamojainitiative , @oasismathare , and @daredreamafrica came together to welcome a new cohort of Inua Binti participants into their journey , not just as participants, but as young women stepping into their own power.

We were honoured to have two invited guests who shared pieces of their own journeys with us. From @cmetrust, @njenga_essy_oyoo , spoke about her personal journey through motherhood and the resilience it takes to rise as a woman of substance amid life's challenges, joined by her colleague @carol.muasya , who has walked alongside young girls in community work for years, who talked about gender roles. From @wanawakemashinani , our second guest, Beatrice, spoke honestly about the realities many women face, and how choosing herself, even when it was hard, became her turning point.

Their stories reminded our new participants of something simple but powerful: your journey is yours to write. As @papitotito puts it, "Tell your own story."

To our new Inua Binti participants ,welcome. We see you, we believe in you, and we're walking this with you.

To the team who planned and curated this day, @doreen_njora , Ann, @e_agwenyi and Grace, and to our directors, Tito , @douglasmzelo and @jessejacktone ,thank you for the leadership and heart behind this. Special shout out to @move.92 for supporting this project!

Part 3/3
There was a lot of laughter during the PSS Summer Workshop. 😂 From the warm-up activities to the different team challenges, you could feel the energy change once everyone got involved.

We had people running, balancing, communicating, competing, cheering for their teams and sometimes completely confusing each other. 😄 Some activities worked out perfectly, while others reminded us that having a plan doesn’t always mean things will go according to plan.

But beyond the fun, there was a lot happening. The activities gave the scholars a chance to interact with people they had not worked with before, learn how to communicate under pressure, trust one another and discover the different strengths within their teams. Someone who may not have been the loudest person in the room could suddenly become the person helping the team find a solution.

I particularly enjoyed seeing how quickly the scholars became comfortable with one another. What started as a group of young people from different institutions gradually became teams that were laughing, encouraging each other and competing like they had known each other for much longer.

At the end of the activities, we took time to talk about what the games had actually taught us. What did you learn about yourself? What did you learn about other people? Which part felt like something you might experience in a workplace or group project? Those conversations helped connect the fun to something much bigger.

Sometimes ou don’t need another lecture, you need to get people moving, give them a challenge, let them laugh a little and then give them space to reflect on what just happened.

That was one of my favourite parts of the day.
Thank you to @cmetrust and @vijana_african_voices

SEKETE: Real Sex Talk

I recently facilitated SEKETE: Real Sex Talk through @paamojainitiative for @cmetrust secondary scholars during their holiday, and one thing stood out: the learners were genuinely curious and open enough to ask questions many young people might be afraid to ask at home.

It reminded me of a common Kenyan joke:

"Ukipea Mkenya bag umuambie akushikie na asiangalie ndani, ataangalia just to confirm umemuambia asiangalie nini." 😂

But there is a serious lesson behind it.

Curiosity doesn't disappear because we tell young people not to ask questions.

Sometimes conversations about sex at home are introduced mainly through threats and harsh warnings. The intention is protection, but fear without information can make it harder for young people to seek help, understand healthy relationships or make informed decisions.

One of my favourite parts was facilitating the conversation around relationships and transactional sex. The questions, reflections and openness made the session incredibly meaningful.

My biggest takeaway?

Young people need more than “Don't do it.”

They need “Here is what you need to know, here is why it matters, and here is someone you can talk to when you have questions.”

And honestly, I think parents need these conversations too. In an information age, we should equip parents with the how of talking to their children about sex, relationships and sexual health.

Because if we don't create safe spaces for these conversations, young people will find information somewhere else.

Information is not the enemy. Misinformation is.
