Download ![Two competitions. Two completely different experiences.
Last month, I had the opportunity to be on the judging panel for two exciting competitions:
Dunkin’ Donuts Barista Championship by @dunkin_uae UAE Fastest Barista Championship 2026 by @cmicoffee.ae
What I found most interesting was how differently each competition challenges a barista.
The Dunkin’ Donuts Barista Championship puts emphasis on the overall performance — coffee preparation, technical skills, consistency, presentation, service, and how a competitor handles the pressure of a competition environment.
The UAE Fastest Barista Championship 2026 takes a different approach. Here, every second matters. Workflow, speed, accuracy, efficiency, and consistency are all tested at the same time.
As someone who has also competed, judging gives me a completely different perspective.
You start noticing the small things — the decisions behind the workflow, the preparation before stepping on stage, how competitors manage pressure, and how much work happens behind those few minutes of competition.
Being on the judging side reminded me that there is always something new to learn from every competition.
Different formats. Different skills. Same passion for coffee.
And Hats off to all the participants who stepped up and showed up for the competition! 👏🏼
It doesn’t matter whether you won or learned - what matters is that you had the courage to show up, challenge yourself, and be part of the journey.
And honestly, showing up is already a win. 🙌🏼
