OOS CAPE 🌊🫶🏻

An absolute dream of a weekend refusing to let summer quit! I’m continuously blown away by this community and the sheer determination to be open and brave (and a little whimsical!). I’m still pinching myself after all these years that I get to be part of it. Everything is truly better with the right people by your side! 🥹

@cmooch @thecoastalyogi @ebkatz Eternally grateful to each of you for your brilliance, wisdom, and big hearts. 🥲 It’s such a treat to see your people doing the thing they’re meant for and you’re each meant for this. 🖤

Paint + sips, poolside hangs, spa treatments, beach walks, and plenty of moments in between to slow down, connect + just be together.✨

Our Local’s Summer retreat on the Cape was filled with movement, rest, connection, community + all the little moments that make getting away together so special.
Up next — OOS Martha’s Vineyard to close out this year’s Out of Studio retreats.

One more retreat for 2026, let’s make it count. 🫶

i still tell stories about you to anyone who will listen.
i still play the songs we used to listen to together.
i still think about the way you’d coach me after a gymnastics meet — having never done gymnastics a day in your life — somehow always knowing exactly what to say.

today would be your 69th birthday. the last one we celebrated together earthside was 19 years ago.

and i find myself holding both ends of a weirdly calming spectrum. losing you was one of the hardest things i’ve ever lived through, AND celebrating you has become one of the most special. there was a time when your birthday felt like the worst day of the year. a reminder of everything i had lost, and all the moments you were supposed to be here for. now, it’s the day i feel closest to you. because the truth is, you’re still everywhere.
in the stories i tell.
in the songs that bring me right back to being your daughter.
in the way i show up for the people i love.
in the lessons you gave me without ever realizing you were teaching them.

i think that’s what grief has taught me most: the relationship doesn’t end. it transforms. you don’t get to experience newness or big milestones with the person you lost, but you keep discovering the old memories in new ways. and somehow, life keeps giving those memories new meaning.

today, i get to celebrate 69 years of you — and feel incredibly lucky that i got to be your daughter for the years i did. d3ad parent club pro tip: still write them birthday cards. every year.

happy heavenly birthday🤍
i’ll keep telling the stories, playing the songs, carrying you with me and most importantly keep fighting for ways to make sure you’re still a part of this life.

my life at 36 looks nothing like I expected, and i’m so grateful for it. i’ve experienced a lot of grief, confusion, and rebuilding. Ive also experienced a lot of success, celebration and gratitude. it has felt scary as f at times, and unstoppable at others. and honestly, just happy enjoying all them.

since its all our first time living this life, i, too, am still figuring it out. but over the last year these 5 things wouldve saved me a lot of time had I trusted them sooner.

🔋 being a beginner is normal. I built a business at 28 on facebook and google docs when I had no idea what was going on, now at 36, its my livelihood. I started CrossFit at 33 and actually giving a shit at 34 and now I’m competing at an elite level.

🔋 stop waiting for someone to do things with. your life cant hinge on those around you. you want to see something? go. book the trip, go on the retreat, sign up for the certification, join the book club. just do it yourself, for yourself.

🔋your friendships should feel reciprocal. pay attention to how you feel after spending time with someone. if it doesnt make you happy, wtf are you doing? *respectfully

🔋spend your energy (time + money included) on things and people that actually make your life bigger or better. I remember the first time I invested in myself + my business. nearly peed myself + talk about bigger and better.

🔋you’re allowed to completely change your life if it isn’t how you want to live. I did it at 34. leave the relationship, change your job, set a goal and put yourself in a position to surprise yourself. taken in Salem, New Hampshire by @cmooch

Lesson #7: Get uncomfortable on purpose.

the final workout. the final full send. the final chapter of my first crossfit games. and naturally, it ended with dt + the echo bike. which meant the faster i finished dt, the less time i had to spend on the bike.

suddenly, i was VERY motivated to suffer efficiently 😂
but this workout felt like the perfect ending because it required something that couldn’t really be faked: grit.

there was no pacing my way into feeling comfortable. no waiting for the right moment. no “i’ll push harder on the next one.” you just had to go. and i think that’s what made this whole experience so meaningful. at some point, you have to stop negotiating with yourself.

you can analyze. you can prepare. you can make a plan. you can wait until you’re more ready. but eventually, you have to actually do the thing. because time is moving whether you decide to move with it or not.

i don’t want to look back at my life and realize i spent more time wondering if i could do something than actually finding out. im the “jump and builds the plane on the way down” kinda girl. and what i’ve learned is, you always find a way if you really want it.

so here’s your nudge:
pick the thing you’ve been talking yourself out of. not because it will definitely work or because you’re guaranteed a great outcome. but because you’re curious enough to find out what happens if you actually go for it.

get uncomfortable. see what you’re capable of. and maybe, like me, you’ll surprise yourself.

what a f*ckin ride 🥹😮‍💨😤🥺🤭🤪 I’m still emo

Lesson #6: Preparation doesn’t mean you’ll always feel prepared.

this one was hard. not necessarily because of the workout itself, but because I walked away feeling unprepared. and honestly? that stung. not my ego but my soul. I knew how much work I’d put in to get there. the hours. the reps. the early mornings. the sacrifices. the training nobody saw. and for a moment, it felt like this one workout wasn’t a reflection of any of it.

but that’s life, right?

you can prepare like crazy and still get thrown something you didn’t expect. you can work your ass off and still have a day where you don’t perform the way you wanted.
and that doesn’t make the work meaningless. it gives you more than any success — it gives you feedback.

this workout exposed blind spots I didn’t know I had. it showed me where my preparation was strong—and where it wasn’t. and that’s actually one of the most valuable things competition (enter: anything challenge in life) can give you. not validation. information.

the goal isn’t to prepare so perfectly that nothing ever goes wrong. the goal is to prepare well enough that when something does, you’re willing to learn from it.

action: instead if asking “why did I fail?”, try “what is this actually teaching me?”

challenges are data. use them.

Lesson #5: Stop thinking. Start moving.

…keep eating popcorn.

this workout was FAST. no time to overthink. no time to second guess. no time to stand there wondering if you were making the right move. just had to go.

full body. heart rate through the roof. brain basically offline (one may say, my happy place).

and honestly? there was something really freeing about it because sometimes we think our way out of taking action. ive done it a number of times — is this the right decision? am I ready? what if I mess it up? should I wait until I know more?

meanwhile, the clock is still running. in life it never stops either.

this workout reminded me that sometimes the best thing you can do is trust the preparation you’ve already put in and GO. you don’t always need another plan. another opinion. another sign. another 20 minutes of thinking.

sometimes you need to make the move and figure it out from there.

action: what’s something you’ve been overthinking that you already know enough to act on?
give yourself a countdown and go. you can course-correct while you’re moving.
