PHILANTHROPY SPOTLIGHT 🩵St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is Delta Delta Delta’s national philanthropy, dedicated to advancing research and treatment for childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Families at St. Jude never receive a bill for treatment, travel, housing, or food, allowing them to focus entirely on their child’s care. At Carnegie Mellon, the chapter brings this mission to life through their signature philanthropy events, Delta House of Pancakes (DHOP) and Sincerely Yours, along with additional fundraising and service efforts throughout the year. Through these events, the chapter raises awareness, supports St. Jude’s lifesaving work, and inspires their members to make a lasting impact for children and families. 🩵 by @cmupanhel

#MEETEXEC with our VP of Public Relations Vera Goliyad 💐“Hi everyone! My name is Vera, and I serve as the Panhellenic VP of Public Relations! I’m an incoming sophomore majoring in Design with an additional major in Human-Computer Interaction, and am from Princeton, NJ. Through my role on Panhel, I manage the social media for CMU Panhellenic, design marketing content, and work with chapter officers and delegates to spotlight each chapter of the Panhellenic community! I would encourage anyone thinking about joining the community to go through recruitment this fall and take this amazing opportunity to meet new people! #MEETEXEC with our VP of Recruitment Gaiatri Potdar 💓“Hiii I’m Gaiatri and I serve as VP Recruitment on the Panhellenic Executive Council! I’m a rising senior studying Economics and AI and I’m from Pittsburgh, PA. I’m super excited to facilitate our formal recruitment process this upcoming year and I’m looking forward to meeting all the new PNMs! I joined this community to branch out and meet more people and I can confidently say I’ve gained exactly what I wanted from the greek life community here at CMU. From my amazing family line to my lifelong friends in my chapter and every other chapter as well, I’m so glad I went through this process and am able to give back to this community. PHILANTHROPY SPOTLIGHT 🦋Service for Sight is Delta Gamma’s official philanthropy since 1936, which works to support the blind and visually impaired. Delta Gamma since then has raised thousands of dollars each year to support the blind and visually impaired through education, funding of blind schools, scholarships, etc. At CMU, Delta Gamma’s big fundraiser is Anchor Slam, a basketball tournament where teams compete to win fun prizes and all the proceeds go to serving the blind community. In addition, the chapter does their signature Milk and Cookies fundraiser where they bake and deliver cookies to CMU students all around campus each month, and give back to the community by volunteering for Pittsburgh’s annual VisionWalk 5K! These are all great events where the whole chapter gets to have fun with one another while doing good for their philanthropy and the wider community! by @cmupanhel

PHILANTHROPY SPOTLIGHT 💐Alpha Chi Omega’s philanthropy is Domestic Violence Awareness. Their goal is to further educate CMU about domestic violence and raise monetary resources to the local women’s shelter, the Women’s Center and Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh (WC&S). As a part of this, every year they host a fundraiser called Walk a Mile in Her Shoes during Domestic Violence Awareness month in October, where they walk a mile (sometimes in heels!) and reflect on gender stereotypes and expectations. And, they paint the fence for Denim Day to raise awareness against sexual assault and harmful misconceptions surrounding it. by @cmupanhel
