I know there’s a lot of houses smelling like sofrito today!! 🇵🇷

My fave part of this Benito Bowl movement is the food recipes circulating social media and seeing people make and try things that they haven’t before 💗💗

If I’ve ever fed you PR food, in any capacity, it means I love you. Gracias a Benito for showing the world THE most resilent little island 🏝️ and for putting my culture and heritage at the forefront!

Today was one of those days I will remember forever. On the anniversary of hurricane Maria hitting Puerto Rico, I had some paintings displayed for Hispanic Heritage month at our local library. My family came to support and I cooked a bunch of PR food. I ended the night watching the live stream of Bad Bunny’s concert with my kid who is learning Spanish so she can sing and understand the lyrics.

Planning my grandma’s 75th surprise party was no easy task but it was worth it to see her face as she witnessed how many people love her 💖💖💖

Every parent always says “I can’t believe my kid is __ years old already!” And it’s true.

Each day goes by and you don’t really think of it but then their birthdays come around and you realize that an entire 365 days have passed. You begin to think of all the hugs, kisses, tears, and smiles that happened. You see their personality and independence grow and change.You sit back and mourn for the lost baby snuggles while simultaneously being excited and nervous for everything that’s coming.

She’s the epitome of a safe space. She laughs at my math and science jokes. Each time have I called her upset, I hang up feeling better. She’s the extrovert to my introvert. I am simply myself with her and I am so grateful for that.
