In 2023 I read an interview with Dolly she spoke about her personal fashion rules. This one made me chuckle because I’ve always a bit extra but at 54 I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Be unapologetic

“I was always a little bit flamboyant, even before I could afford to buy clothes. When I got to where I could actually pick and choose [what I wore], I was drawn to color and tight clothes—anything just a little bit different than everybody else. I always [toed] the line, and sometimes I was willing to cross it in order to look like I wanted to look.”

Whenever I think about what it means to be a strong woman, I think about all the strong women I am blessed to know in my life. From my mom to some of the amazing women that I’ve become friends with. I’ve grown and become stronger as a result of being around them.

Despite their fears or challenges, these women have courageously pushed forward, doing whatever needs to be done and having faith in themselves.

Most of us are familiar with that kind of pain.

The pain of accepting the status quo rather than embracing the joy and challenge of creating the life we want

The pain of struggling day after day to get what we want and never quite making it

The pain of feeling less than or not good enough

The pain of feeling invisible, unheard, disregarded or patronized

The pain of discovering that somewhere along the line, we lost ourselves and became someone others wanted or needed us to be

We’ve all been there. Most of us can relate.

And, time and time again, I’ve seen beautiful, strong women (including myself) overcome their fear to conquer their pain to embrace their potential.

I’ve been in a slump lately and decided to get with these amazing group of ladies and realized how important it is to embrace friends,life and womanhood. It’s so easy to get lost in the daily grind so do yourself a favor and get out to just laugh every once in awhile . Thank you Lea C. Arndt and Lavenia Johnson to pulling this together
