Every time we drive to the cabin I see this interesting blue building so just had to stop to photograph it last time. I just love the texture from being so worn and it always grabs my eye.

February is American Heart Month. ❤️
We are a group of photographers who want to spread awareness for Congenital Heart Defects (CHD). Our hope is to raise funding to help further research.
•Nearly 40,000 infants in the U.S. are born each year with a Congenital Heart Defect.
•CHDs are the most common cause of infant death due to birth defects.
•CHDs are common and deadly, yet CHD research is grossly under-funded relative to the prevalence of the disease.

Swipe to see the inspiration image of my mom when she was 5 years old. She said her dad set up the picture and asked the neighbor to hold the flower under her chin. It's one of about 3 pictures I have of my mom growing up (clearly not going to be an issue our children have😆) My mom later became a photographers model at the Brooks Institute of Photography doing advertisements in the 60s. I remember her telling me how she was instructed to hold a product with her fingers together but without obscuring the label. She was asked to be in TV commercials in LA but her dad didn't want her to go. I need to see one day if any of those images are kept somewhere bc my mom said she didn't keep them.

But this picture is taken at my grandfather in law's old house next door to our cabin. The dress is mine from when I was 8. I was happy to see it in my closet at home bc it wouldn't fit her by next summer. 🌱

A moment in Glacier National Park a few years ago that I've not forgotten...we had to come back early bc when we got there we found out you can only get in before 6am or after 4pm. And all passes were sold out😭 we found a way to make it work and it was so worth it 👌

I've been wanting to capture a memory like this for months, so I'm excited to finally have done it! Everytime we go to Marinette, WI for open hockey, we make a stop at this 1940's diner, Mickey Lu BBQ, for the best burgers and malts afterward. Inside the diner hangs a print like this and it inspired me to take a photo of the diner from this angle and photos of us and recreate their print using my photos. I love this vintage vibe and we have enjoyed going there so many times. I had to add a sky and a moon from generative fill and color and light it up but that's part of the challenge. Photographers that capture an amazing photo as is are mind blowing, but for me there's also something about sometimes transforming your own photo into something only your mind sees. It's fun to see yourself in the same setting but in another era sometimes!

Happy golden birthday to the best son we could ever ask for! 10 on the 10th! This was another photo from our trip to London. Fire blowing horns and the brick road of life seemed appropriate and festive! You are so kind and loving, never met someone who wasn't a friend within 5 seconds, always up for anything, and ALWAYS up for hockey. Merry Christmas to all! Hope you are having the best Christmas and continuing on with cheer and fun through to the New Year! Friends on here mean a lot to me. I'm amazed how the people I've met on here have such big hearts and are always so full of encouragement and inspiration. And I wish I were better with words so I could give everyone their full due credit! Love and hugs to you during this Christmas season wherever you are and how ever you are spending your day!

On the second day of winter my true love gave to me, two ice lanterns and a partridge in a pear tree! Or as my son's friend says "an ostrich in a pear tree" (quite a sight to imagine)! This is our second ice lantern, the first is in stories. Any and all lights are welcome during these short days. It's not sunlight, but a warm light shining in the dark has such a charm all it's own to me.✨️

John in his Halloween costume, a Redwings player named Bob Probert 😆 and included his birthday cake I made for him this year in the shape of a Stanley cup (added in later because it's like 10 pounds 😆 ) and an adobe background and 37 layers later, here we go! He loves hockey so much, I feel like that's all we do, so might as well keep up tradition for Halloween! by @cnewkirk21

A beautiful driveway seen on the way to a friend's house... would they just feel like royalty driving home 3 weeks a year💫

On this last day of pediatric cancer awareness month, I wanted to post to support patients and friends who have had pediatric cancer in their beautiful families. Such strength is required to make it through and it is inspiring how much good comes out of that strength, both within the family and extended to others.

🎗️September is pediatric cancer awareness month.🎗️Today, 43 children will be diagnosed with cancer and sadly 7 children will die from this disease.

💛 The causes of childhood cancer are unknown and can not be prevented.

💛 Due to a lack of research, some pediatric cancers have a zero percent survival rate, either at diagnosis or recurrence.

💛 All 16 different childhood cancers receive 4% of the national cancer institute’s nearly $5 billion dollar budget while other cancers receive much more.

When a child is diagnosed with cancer, the whole family is affected and we want them to know they are not alone in this journey.To show our love and support for the many families affected by childhood cancer we are turning Instagram GOLD this September with the support of many hubs, The Gold Hope Project.

@TheGoldHopeProject is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization thats provides free portrait sessions to families battling pediatric cancer while funding innovative pediatric cancer research.
