I feel truly blessed to have the opportunity to give back to my hometown in a new way beyond coaching or playing. This wasn’t in my plans—at least not for this year—but who can go against God’s plans?

Becoming the owner of the Tiburones del 603, our new semi-pro team, allows me to continue my grandfather’s legacy of inspiring young athletes through the game of basketball, starting here in Aguadilla and reaching out to the rest of the world. I’m incredibly grateful for this chance to make an impact.

Basketball if more than just a sport, it’s a lifestyle.

I want to thank God first for allowing me to do what I love. Coaching basketball for me it’s not a Job but a way of living. Winning games is my the goal but my passion is helping others get to their highest potential so they can be successful in LIFE, thats why I do what I do. This year was an adventure. As a first year program and being my first time as a head coach in the college level was a big challenge, a challenge that I enjoyed. Some things didn’t go our way, some people weren’t completely happy. There was some hard moments people quit, some failed, some got depressed, others got injured, as part of the administration we had a big situation mid season that really affected us but we manage to work it out and kept going. Thanks to those who believed and worked hard, for those who stayed and trusted the process, to the coaching staff for being by my side in the hard moments, to the administration for continuing believing in the program and us, to my family that supported from the far, thanks to all the coaches that support me! I appreciate it.

ALL THE GLORY IS TO GOD 🙏🏽🏀

Yesterday, Atlantis University Athletics visited OYC @oycmiami and connected with middle and high school students through an inspiring and educational session.
Students heard from Athletic Director Francisco Hernandez @coach.hdez , alongside Sam Glyn, Director of Admissions, and Prof. Rodolfo Capdevilla, AI Faculty Lead. Together, they shared insights on the college experience, how athletics can shape the future, and the growing impact of Artificial Intelligence.

During the session, students learned how athletics can serve as a pathway to earning a college education, building leadership skills, and opening doors to lifelong opportunities. They were reminded of the importance of discipline, teamwork, and perseverance both on and off the field.
At Atlantis University Athletics, the mission goes beyond competition. It focuses on developing student-athletes and empowering them to succeed in the classroom, in their communities, and in life.
We thank OYC for providing students with the opportunity to be inspired and think about their future. They are part of the next generation of leaders, and this is just the beginning.

Yesterday was one of the proudest moments of my life as a coach.

People see the wins, losses, rankings, and championships, but for me, coaching has always been about something bigger than basketball. Watching these young men walk across that graduation stage reminded me that this is part of my mission as a coach.

I know the sacrifices, struggles, adversity, and pressure they faced to get here. I’ve seen their growth not only as athletes, but as men.

As coaches, we pour our hearts into our players. Even during moments when they may not understand certain decisions, we continue believing in them and wanting the best for them because our responsibility goes beyond the game.

Seeing them walk across that graduation stage is the REAL VICTORY. 🙏🏽✍🏽

Another season on the books ✅✍🏽

As I reflect back on all the sacrifices, the hard decisions made, and the challenges faced, I’m reminded that this journey has not only been about wins or records, it’s about the impact.

For me, it’s about the early mornings, late nights, the adversity, and the responsibility I carry to help guide these young athletes into becoming better men, prepared for life beyond the game.

I’m grateful for every player who trusted the process, embraced the culture, and committed to something bigger than themselves. That’s what our program stands for.

I will continue to build, develop, and lead with purpose.

Looking forward to what’s next. 🙏🏽🏀🚀🔥 by @coach.hdez

Sitting at the airport on our way back from Nationals, I find myself reflecting on this season and everything this group went through together.

We didn’t reach the ultimate goal of winning the championship, and that hurts. But I couldn’t be more proud of what this team accomplished. We made history with the first postseason win in school history, finished 17–11 (.600), reached the conference tournament and the USCAA National Tournament, and had three All-Americans, including a First Team All-American and Conference Player of the Year. I was also blessed to reach 50 college career wins.

But what means the most to me goes beyond wins and awards. Seeing seven seniors that about to graduate, including players who stayed with me for four years, is something I will never forget. Happy for them to end their career being able for a chance in nationals. Watching them grow as players, as students, and as men has been the greatest reward.

This journey was not easy. Coaching at a small college with limited resources comes with many sacrifices and challenges. There were struggles, adversity, and moments where things could have gone the other way. But this group stayed together. They believed in each other, bought into the culture, and trusted the process.

For me, this was a very special group, one that I will truly miss. The relationships we built and the memories we created will stay with me forever.

Grateful for this season.
Not satisfied.
Motivated for what’s next. The journey continues.. 🔥
