I've always been pretty good at reading a room.

It helped me navigate work, relationships, leadership, and all the spaces I found myself in.

But there’s a difference between being aware of the people around you and becoming dependent on their approval.

Because when you spend too much time trying to understand what everyone else thinks, you can slowly lose touch with what you know.

Galatians 1:10 has become a reminder for me:

Whose approval am I ultimately living for?

I can listen.
I can consider other perspectives.
I can adjust when wisdom calls for it.

But I don't have to abandon who God says I am just to make everyone else comfortable.

Rebuilding has meant learning to listen without losing my foundation.

I’ve noticed that when I’m unsure of who I am, I can start looking to other people to confirm it for me.

That changes how I communicate, what I tolerate, and even how much of myself I feel like I need to explain.

The more grounded I become in who I am in Christ, the less I need every relationship to make me feel secure.

That kind of confidence does not make us harder. I think it actually helps us love people better.

One thing I’ve had to learn is that taking ownership does not mean turning on yourself.

It means being honest enough to notice what keeps repeating, where your choices are taking you, and what you may need to do differently.

Grace does not remove responsibility. It gives us room to respond differently.

That matters to me because I never want growth to come from shame.

I want it to come from clarity, wisdom, and the confidence to take the next faithful step God has already put in front of me.

I’ve always liked knowing the plan.

What are we doing? Where is this going? What comes next?

But rebuilding has taught me that I don’t always need more information to take the next step.

Sometimes I already know what God is asking me to do. I just don’t know everything that comes after it.

So I’m learning to move differently.

Release what no longer belongs here. Be faithful with what’s actually in front of me. Trust God with what I cannot see yet.

It’s not always the dramatic breakthrough or the perfectly mapped-out plan.

Sometimes faith looks like quietly taking the next step—and trusting that God will meet me there.

There are parts of my life I thought would look different by now.

For a while, I kept trying to figure out how to get back to what felt familiar. Lately I’ve been realizing that God may not be asking me to recreate an old version of my life at all.

Some things are changing. Some things I’m still learning how to release. And there are pieces I simply do not have answers for yet.

What I do know is that I want to build this next chapter differently. With more prayer, more honesty, and less pressure to have the whole thing figured out before I move.

I’m learning that rebuilding can begin long before the full plan is clear.

There’s something bittersweet about watching your daughter grow into the woman beside you.

The little girl who once needed you for everything slowly becomes someone you can laugh with, talk with, and learn from.

Motherhood changes you in ways you never expected.

And sometimes, rebuilding means learning to embrace who you’re becoming while making room for who she’s becoming, too. 🤍

For a long time, I measured strength by how much I could handle.
And usually, I could handle a lot.

But rebuilding has made me ask a different question:
Just because I can carry something, does God actually ask me to carry it?

I'm learning to pay attention to what something is requiring from me, what it's producing in me, and whether it still belongs in the life I'm being called to steward.

Because being capable doesn't mean something is mine to carry forever.

Sometimes wisdom looks like releasing.
Sometimes obedience looks like saying no.
And sometimes faith looks like trusting God enough to put something down.

I'm learning that strength isn't always carrying more. Sometimes it's knowing what to surrender.

I’ve had to learn that saying yes to something good doesn’t always mean it’s right for me in this season.

Sometimes a good opportunity can still pull me away from what God has already entrusted to me.

So now, before I commit, I try to pause and ask:

Do I have the capacity for this?
Does this actually fit the season I’m in?
Am I saying yes from peace—or from pressure?

Stewardship has taught me that every yes carries responsibility.

I don’t want to say yes simply because I can.

I want my yes to be intentional.
I want it to have meaning.
And I want to have the capacity to honor what I said yes to.

I’ve realized how easy it is for me to focus on what could be better that I forget to appreciate what’s already good.

There will always be something to fix, improve, plan for, or pursue.

But I don’t want my desire for what’s next to make me overlook what God has already placed in my hands right now.

Lately, gratitude has been teaching me to look around before I look ahead.

To pause.
To appreciate.
To be present.

Because sometimes the life we keep trying to improve is actually a life we’re supposed to slow down and enjoy.

I’ve had to stop treating every change in my life like a problem to solve.

Sometimes the plan still looks good on paper, but deep down I know it no longer fits the life I’m actually living. I used to answer that feeling by pushing harder and trying to make an old definition of success work in a new season.

Now I pay attention sooner.

If the season has changed, I’m allowed to change the measure too.

That doesn’t make me less ambitious.

It makes me more honest.

And more willing to follow where God is leading next.

I’ve learned to pay attention to the question I’m asking in a hard season.

“Why is this happening?” can keep me circling the pain.

“God, what are You showing me here?” gives me somewhere to move.

That doesn’t make the challenge easy or mean every setback needs an instant lesson. It just keeps me open to wisdom, prayer, and the next step I can actually take.

A difficult chapter can still hold direction.

I used to think being loving meant being easy to reach.

Over time, I realized those are not the same thing.

I can care about you deeply and still not be available every time something feels urgent. I can show up with intention without letting every request rearrange my day.

That is not distance. That is stewardship.

Some relationships actually get healthier when access is clear, expectations are honest, and love is not measured by how quickly I respond.

I am learning to make room for people without handing over the whole schedule. 🤍 by @coach.sharae
