When we got to San Fernando in 2022, there was backlash.
Some from parents—but mostly from our own community.
“Why are y’all coaching there?”

A lot of people forgot about the tradition… the culture… the pride of San Fernando Football.
But we didn’t.

For my father, it was his alma mater.
For me, it was a place I grew up hearing legendary stories about.

Four years later… all the early mornings, late nights, blood, sweat, and tears—
it all led to this.

To every player who came through this program during that time…
you’re all a part of this. Every single one of you.
I won’t forget any of you.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to coach you…
but truthfully, I learned just as much from y’all.

This belongs to all of us.

It’s easy to pour into communities & schools that welcome what you bring. The hardest place to serve is sometimes home—where familiarity can make people forget the value standing right in front of them. Brought that chip 🏆 home tho Pops. They can’t tell you nothing! @coachburnley by @coach__dot

Today’s focus with Hayes was on speeding up his lower-half mechanics—specifically getting his weight transferred into the back foot (plant foot) quicker so he can push through the ground and generate force.

The concept is simple:

Transfer ➡️ Plant ➡️ Push ➡️ Throw

The faster we load the back foot and apply force into the ground, the sooner we can initiate the throwing sequence.

We’re not trying to make the arm move faster—we’re trying to get the body in position to throw sooner. The 2nd slide shows the is in action. 🎯🏈

Fast feet. Fast sequence. Fast release.

This session was all about seeing the game through the quarterback’s eyes. @jesseholdridge2013

🏈 We covered:
• Odd vs. Even defensive fronts
• Defensive gap alignments (“Techniques”)
• How the front dictates pass protection
• Identifying potential passing lanes before the snap

Elite quarterbacks don’t just memorize plays—they understand why protections are called and how defensive structure creates or closes throwing windows.

The more you understand the defense, the slower the game becomes.

Special Happy Father’s Day to all my fellow Autism Dads—especially those of us handling it all on our own.

The dietary restrictions. The meltdowns. The neurologist appointments. The IEP meetings. The IPP meetings. ABA therapy. The sleep disorders. And the list goes on.

All while fighting against a society that isn’t always built with our children in mind.

Our kids may not remember every sacrifice we made, every sleepless night, or every battle we fought behind the scenes. But they’ll remember one thing:

You were there.
