Pick your coach, not the program. 🎯

Another moment from the What It Takes to Go D1 conversation, and this one’s going to step on some toes.

Parents chase the program every time. The name on the jersey. The ring count. The tournament schedule. And here’s the question nobody asks: what’s more important, winning or development?

Because they are not the same thing. Some programs win off recruiting, not coaching. Stack enough talent and the wins come whether anybody develops or not. Meanwhile your kid is on the bench of a “winner” getting worse while a real teacher two gyms over would have transformed her game.

And I’m going to say it plain: some of y’all favorites really can’t coach. A trophy case is not a resume. Teaching is the resume.

So before you write the next check, watch a practice. Not a game. A practice. If all you see is scrimmaging and yelling, that’s not coaching, that’s supervision.

Where do you stand: take the championship program with average coaching, or the average program with a real developer? Defend your answer below. 👇🏾

Everything is situational, including the prep vs public conversation.

Is prep school an option you would consider?

Prep or private school?

Which one you choosing?

Enjoying having @coach_cd7 father of Rutgers guard @chikaee to talk the recruiting journey, prep school debate and when public school reps, Role could be a good move..

And let's be clear..

I'm not against prep 😂

It definitely has some benefits to it and could be better suited than public...
