My heart is extremely heavy today. Yesterday I saw one of my closest friends, Joyce Hurt, laid to rest. Her first name had JOY in it and her last name was HURT. I’ve never met anyone whose real name was more appropriate, for the pain she’d been through but the joy she ultimately brought the world. For me she was not only a dear friend but also a mentor and spiritual counselor, as she was for so many people. Over the years I’ve seen her help many, many people who were struggling with dilemmas in life and seemed to have lost their way. She was truly an angel on Earth and her presence in my life will be missed tremendously. This morning I came to work and this man, Derrick, was at my table sitting in a wheelchair. I was able to give him a bottle of water, a few dollars for breakfast, some encouragement, and a friend’s card who does outreach for the homeless and gets them permanent housing. Just like I saw Joyce do for SO many people over the years. I was able to pass her love on to a stranger today……

So if you feel so inclined, please reach out to someone struggling today. Get them a bottle of water, something to eat. Give them a couple dollars and don’t ask what they’re going to do with it. Give them 5 minutes of conversation while the rest of the world walks by them as if they’re invisible. Pass Joyce’s love on to someone today for me. That way her spirit lives on. by @coach_dave_boxing

Little Cassius ( born on the day Cassius Clay aka Muhammad Ali died ) had an amazing session today! I don’t get to train with him often, but when I do he never ceases to amaze me with his ability to absorb….AND APPLY information instantly.
