Saturday night was really special. I drove to Springfield, IL to watch the Women's Professional Baseball League (@wpbl_official) in their inaugural season. This was my first time seeing them play after coaching them at last year's tryouts in DC.

And let me tell you...these ladies can play some ball. @jaida.lee.01 threw some gas on the mound touching 80 mph for the New York @wpbl_heights. @sato_18 was a master on the mound for the Los Angeles @wpbl_queens. @ashtonlansdell went deep twice. @denaebenites2 was a beast behind the plate. @keiraizumi was scrappy as usual. And coach @rocky2439 orchestrated an exciting come from behind victory in extra innings for the Heights.

It might be a little far away, but if you can make it to a game this year, you won't be disappointed. Oh and they have their own custom beer. Amazing!

The #congressionalbaseballgame was a blast. The dems fell short, but just being on the field with these folks was a great honor. Especially when my boy @morgan_mcgarvey goes 4 for 4 and came within 10 feet of hitting a homerun in an MLB stadium. And the after party was lit...

If you told me a week ago that I’d be on the field at Nationals Park, coaching 1st base for the Women's Professional Baseball League tryouts, I probably would’ve laughed. But here we are - and the past 4 days have been some of the most inspiring and unforgettable of my life.

I had the honor of joining and learning from some of the greatest coaches in baseball at the WPBL tryouts, witnessing extraordinary athletes like @monee_011, @kelsie_whitmore, and @sato_18 pour everything they had into chasing their dreams and making history. To be even a small part of this moment felt bigger than baseball.

After four grueling 16-hour days, my body is sore in places I didn’t even know existed. But every ache is worth it, because my heart has never been so full.

Huge thanks to @justinesiegal, @16newt, @elizabeth.benn, and the entire @wpbl_official team for the vision, the courage, and the relentless work to build this league. And to the players who inspired all of us with talent, grit, and love of the game.

This was history in the making, and I’ll never forget it. ⚾❤️

One of my all-time favorite baseball movies is A League of Their Own, which tells the story of the first professional women’s baseball league.

Now, nearly a century later, history is being written again: in 2026, the Women’s Professional Baseball League (WPBL) will launch—led by my good friend, the trailblazing Justine Siegal. And this weekend, right here in DC, the very first tryouts are happening.

By some mix of chance and luck, I’ve been invited to be part of this historic moment as a volunteer coach. It’s four grueling 16-hour days—but every single minute feels like an honor.

And here’s the best part: you can witness history, too. On Monday, August 25th, Nationals Park will host the final day of tryouts. Come see these incredible athletes chasing their dreams and help support the birth of a league that will inspire generations.

This picture was taken at the Congressional Baseball Game this week. @repmcgarvey hit a triple and then ran over to the dugout and jumped in my arms to thank me for helping him all year with his hitting. This is what coaching is all about.
