Turning busy professionals into HYROX athletes

⬇️ Free Week of the 9-5 HYROX Method
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Most HYROX athletes don’t need to train more.
They need a better system.

The 9–5 Method is built around one simple idea:
Make every session have a purpose.

No junk volume.
No guessing what to do each week.

Instead, we build your:
→ Engine
→ Strength
→ Running
→ HYROX-specific performance

And then we adjust the plan weekly based on how you’re actually performing.
That’s how you make progress without needing to train like a full-time athlete.

Swipe through to see how the 9–5 Method works and what it has done for our athletes.

Most people think mental toughness in HYROX means pushing harder.

I don’t.

It’s being able to make good decisions when your breathing is high, your legs are heavy and your brain starts looking for a reason to back off.

That’s where races change.

Not because you suddenly lost fitness.

Because fatigue changed the way you paced, reacted or executed.

The goal isn’t to feel good throughout the race.

It’s to stay in control when you are already exhausted.

What’s your biggest mental struggle before or during HYROX?

Comment below and I’ll tell you how I’d approach it. taken in Vienna, Austria by @coachaleks

What does a HYROX WORLD CHAMPION do different in training?

After four years training beside Alexander Roncevic, the fastest man in the sport, I can tell you the difference is not what most people assume. It is not some brutal secret session or superhuman volume. What he does differently is quieter than that, and honestly more useful, because you can actually copy it. Here is what genuinely sets his training apart.

He trains easy far more than people believe.
The vast majority of his week is relaxed, controlled aerobic work, not the all out grind most people imagine an elite doing. He saves real intensity for one or two sessions and protects everything around them. The discipline to go easy is the thing almost nobody else has.

He trains by feel, not only by numbers.
When I first met him he did not even use a watch. Years of consistent training built an internal sense of effort and fatigue that no device can match. Most people outsource every decision to data and lose the ability to simply feel what their body needs that day.

He actually rests when his body asks for it.
Not a lighter session, not a modified compromise. Full days off, sometimes two or three in a row, with no guilt and no fear of falling behind. He knows the adaptation happens in the rest, so he takes it properly while most people train through fatigue and wonder why they stall.

He builds everything on running and a deep engine.
The aerobic base comes first, always, and the gym work exists to support it. He never lets the lifting that feels good get in the way of the running that actually wins the race.

He repeats the same things for years.
No chasing shiny new workouts. The same handful of key sessions, done properly, long enough to compound into a world record.

None of that needs elite genetics. It needs patience and the discipline to do the simple things well, which is exactly what my free 7 Day HYROX Plan is built around. Comment PLAN and I’ll send it straight to you. taken in Vienna, Austria by @coachaleks

Most athletes try to improve their HYROX time by getting faster at running or faster at the stations.

But that’s not always where the easiest time is hiding.

A race is not just 8 runs and 8 stations.

It’s everything that connects them.

How you enter a station.
How much it costs you.
How quickly you get moving again.
How fast you recover your pace after it.

Those small losses don’t look dramatic on a split sheet.

But repeat them across an entire race and they become minutes.

That’s why I don’t only look at how fast an athlete can run or complete a station.

I look at how well they can connect the whole race together.

Your next PB might already be there.

You’re just leaking it away. taken in Steyr, Austria by @coachaleks

5 differences between a 90 min and a Sub 70 min HYROX athlete.

It is almost never talent, and it is almost never training harder. The gap comes down to a handful of things the faster athlete does completely differently. Here are the five that matter most.

1. Running.
The 90 minute athlete treats running as the thing between stations, and trains the gym instead. The Sub 70 athlete treats HYROX as a running race and makes running the priority. Most of their week is running, and it is the single biggest reason they are faster.

2. Pacing.
The 90 minute athlete goes out hard because they feel fresh, then falls apart in the back half. The Sub 70 athlete starts controlled, holds a repeatable pace, and often finishes stronger than they started. Same fitness, ten minutes of difference, just from pacing.

3. The engine.
The 90 minute athlete does mostly hard, medium effort sessions and wonders why they plateau. The Sub 70 athlete does most of their training easy, building a deep aerobic base, and saves the hard work for when it counts. A bigger engine is what holds pace when everyone else fades.

4. Running under fatigue.
The 90 minute athlete only ever trains fresh, so race day shocks them. The Sub 70 athlete trains running on trashed legs on purpose, straight out of stations, so the back half feels familiar instead of brutal. This alone is worth minutes.

5. Consistency and recovery.
The 90 minute athlete grinds hard for three weeks, gets tired or hurt, and stops. The Sub 70 athlete trains consistently for months, protects recovery, and lets the work compound. Slow, boring, and it wins every time.

None of these are about doing more. They are about doing the right things, in the right way, for long enough. Get them right and Sub 70 stops being a wall.

More sessions won’t automatically make you faster at HYROX.

Especially when you’re working 9–5 and your recovery is already limited.

The goal isn’t to fit as much training as possible into the week.

It’s to make every session earn its place.

Clear purpose.
Right intensity.
Enough recovery.
Progression you can actually sustain.

That’s where most athletes leave time on the table.

Not because they’re lazy.

Because their training has no real structure.

Comment HYROX and I’ll send you a free trial week of my 9–5 HYROX Method so you can see how I structure it.
