"Trick The Trickster" could be the subtitle of the EASA ATPL theory when you get yourself into it, in your journey to become an airline pilot.

Every question is a challenge. Every distractor has a purpose. And sometimes, knowing the theory is simply not enough: you need to understand how the question is designed to trick you.

That's where strategy makes the difference. Learn to recognize the traps, understand the logic behind the questions, and stop losing marks on things you actually know.

Don't just learn the theory. Learn how to beat the exam.

✈️ I'm Michael, an EASA ATPL instructor and 1:1 coach. I help ATPL students understand the logic behind exam questions, recognize the traps and study more strategically.

Ready to stop falling for the tricks? Get in touch and let's work on your exam strategy.

You’re already a professional pilot. You have the experience, the flight hours and the operational knowledge.

So why can EASA ATPL conversion feel so unexpectedly demanding?

As an experienced EASA ATPL instructor and ATPL / MPL theory coach, I help professional pilots navigate the specific logic of EASA exams, identify what really matters, and prepare efficiently without wasting time on the wrong things.

EASA ATPL theory is about studying more. It’s about studying smarter.

If you’re converting your ATPL pilot licence from FAA or ICAO to EASA, this video is for you.

ATPL or MPL theory in the EASA syllabus isn’t just about knowing the answers. Neither about only having a perfect understanding of the technical concepts.

It’s also a strategy game. The authority tests the human factor as well. You have to detect and avoid an infinite numbers of traps and tricky questions - from units change in the calculations to English wording, sometimes confusing. Most of the time, EASA ATPL candidates have to identify the relevant information among a massive quantity of unnecessary material. EASA ATPL is about knowing where the traps are — and why they keep catching candidates.

No matter if you are an ab-initio ATPL or MPL student who has just started 1 months ago, or if you are a 10000-hours experienced airline captain, converting his/her license to EASA, the ATP traps remain the ATPL traps...

This is where I come into the game: the **ATPL Trap Avoidance System**. In my 1-1 ATPL coaching sessions I teach you the theory + the traps, in order to pass your ATPL theory with confidence and increase your chances of success, whether you’re an ATPL student or an EASA-converting airline pilot.

✈️ EASA ATPL coaching
🎯 Strategy • traps • mistakes • exam performance by @coachapilot

He had failed all his ATPL exams.

His father contacted me and asked if I could help.

What followed was not a quick fix.

Over time, we worked together on his ATPL knowledge, his way of studying, his confidence, and his approach to the exams.

Session after session, we kept working.

Until, eventually, he passed every single ATPL exam.

Around 60 coaching sessions later, the story had completely changed.

This is what ATPL coaching is about for me: not simply explaining questions, but helping a student understand what is holding them back — and giving them the structure, strategy and support to move forward.

The pleasure I get when this kind of student eventually sends me a picture from his flight deck is priceless ;) by @coachapilot

ATPL coaching is not only about knowing the theory.

It’s also about building the confidence to use that knowledge — under pressure, in class, and ultimately in the exam.

Seeing a shy student go from doubting herself to voluntarily explaining an altimetry concept to her classmates is one of the most rewarding parts of this job.

Knowledge builds confidence. Confidence helps you perform.

One of my ATPL students bought an ATPL coaching package from me… and never used a single session. A few months later, he contacted me. He had passed all his EASA theoretical ATPL exams. And he simply wanted to thank me for my support… It made me think that coaching is not only about the number of hours and sessions you spent with your students. Sometimes it is also about knowing that an experienced instructor is there, present by your side, when you need help. And sometimes that simple presence is enough to give you the confidence and the impulse to keep going and boost your motivation! That experience meant a lot to me. #atpl #pilottraining #easa #futurepilot #easaconversion by @coachapilot

And yes, I also coach and teach in Spanish and French as well, apart from English. Thanks @_mirandous_ for these kind words. We're gonna make it! by @coachapilot

Most people think failing an ATPL exam only costs an exam fee.

It doesn’t.

It costs confidence.
It costs time.
It delays your airline career.
It adds stress, pressure and frustration.

1 extra month in your flat in Madrid in summer (+41 degrees) costs 800 euros. 1 month delay in your dream job costs 4000 euros lost in salary. And it’s only the visible part. Pressure, frustration, loss of confidence are coming too...

After years of coaching ATPL students and professional pilots converting to EASA, I’ve reached the same conclusion again and again:

Knowledge is essential. But strategy is what makes the difference.

That’s why my coaching goes far beyond teaching formulas or explaining question bank answers.

In my coaching packs, we work on:
✈️ Study strategy
📅 Workload management
📲 WhatsApp support when you’re stuck
📝 Exam-style assessments
💪 Motivation and accountability

And obviously ATPL theory!

Whether you’re an ATPL student or an experienced pilot preparing for an EASA conversion, the objective is the same:

Pass efficiently. Move your career forward.

Every week I meet students who ask me the same questions: "Why the ATPL theory is full of traps?" "Why I should learn useless things?" "Why the questions are so stricky and unfair?" etc.

Actually, it doesn't matter.

Whether you agree with the system or not, the exams are still there. Your future airline career depends on getting through them and you have to conform.

The students who succeed learn how the system works. They build an efficient study strategy. They stay consistent and keep focused.

And they keep moving forward.

And trust me, the skills you get in the ATPL theory will be extremely useful in your airline career. Starting with the type rating ;)

DM me and I will make your ATPL easier ;)
