Once upon a time, in the biggest fight of his career to date and as a massive underdog, D Hook let me switch his stance to Southpaw. Why switch stances? A great southpaw fights with elite Pace of Play. think Pernell Whitaker, Shakur Stevenson, Prime Anderson Silva, Prime Giorgio Petrosyan, Prime Sitthichai, Jon Jones as a southpaw, all of these guys dictated the pace of play to their opponents. They understood that time was on their side and strikes were a formality of their humility to be patient and acquire position all the while controlling the clock giving themselves time to see think and decide. At the time Dan bought into my madness and shoutout to Jon Anik for being smart enough to recognize and acknowledge the Pace of Play we wanted to achieve. Obviously my system is versatile, A Million Styles Boxing, we’ve done similar things in professional boxing also, see the video pinned to the top of my Instagram profile. I personally have always enjoyed being an underdog and dominating people that are supposed to be better. I’m sure you are familiar with me saying no idol worshipping, something I scream from the top of mountains. by @coachbarryrobinson

Late December 2011 Work With Jose Aldo Turning Nothing Into Something In Chaos. Training in Amsterdam. by @coachbarryrobinson
A lot of people only know Cris Cyborg through her fights or a promo interview or the post fight scream when they win. Coaches, fans, broadcast people — they never really get a chance to know the person. I got that chance. Spent a few weeks with her in California training and just being around each other outside the gym too. We took a hike out in nature, did some running, some pad work, and I just got to hear her story. Where she started in Brazil, the environment she came up in, what it was like being a woman in that environment, how close she is to her family and her faith. Those conversations hit different than anything you’re gonna see on social media or TV. And then outside of training watching her sit there and teach herself how to play piano. That same drive. That same patience. That told me everything I needed to know about her as a student and as a fighter. She also challenged me as a coach in ways that forced me to grow. I had a choice — take the easy road and give her what she was comfortable with as a veteran, or push her through drills she wasn’t used to. I didn’t take the easy road. What you’re seeing in this video is aggressor work — cutting the ring, inverted and extroverted footwork drills, overload — five minute rounds. And when you hear me say “counter right hand” in this video that’s not about throwing that punch. That’s a position cue. I want her raising that lead hand, thinking pre-defense, keeping that option available. When you’re coaching someone through a drill in real time you have to be able to communicate without stopping the session. Film study outside the gym, then inside the gym seeing what you need to say and saying it in a way the athlete can receive it. That’s the job. A small part of a long and historic career. What this woman has built in this industry — where she started and what she’s become — that means something. Honored to have been any part of it. by @coachbarryrobinson

Congratulations @nobickal1 on all your career wins so far. Each one has came as a result of great reads and positioning prior to the finality of the competition. That’s a testament to your maturity, humility, and wealth of experience as a high level athlete prior to becoming a Mixed Martial Artist. Obviously you and the team are doing a great job of managing your development so far in this journey. Thanks for supplementing some of your training and competitive logistics with A Million Styles Boxing and I’m obviously happy some of that stuff compliments you mentally as well as tactically. I appreciate the shoutout and even more I appreciate the cerebral approach to development and competition. 🤼‍♂️ 🤼‍♂️ 🤼‍♂️🫡 by @coachbarryrobinson
