Final PR of the season belongs to me!

Excited to start year 6 at UCLA which is now the longest position I’ve held in my career.

This will be my 15th season of college coaching and I’m really proud of how I’ve worked my way up from a D3 volunteer to a part-time D2, to Covid-Era mid-major and now to UCLA and Team USA throws coach.

In all I’ve coached or recruited athletes that have won 15 NCAA championships and a few division/meet records with over 80 Top-10 finishers and over 300 points at NCAAs over the course of their careers.

Some of the best memories though include meeting my athletes’ babies, getting phone calls inviting me to their hall-of-fame-inductions, seeing them become coaches with their own national champions and even just sending memes and getting food together randomly.

I’ve gotten to house pro groups which hosted Olympians and world medalists and I now sit on national executive committees for education and development with usatf where I also lecture for level 1 and 2 certifications.

I’ve gotten to present nationally and travel internationally; meeting dozens of coaches and hundreds of athletes, which has been one of the best parts of the last few years.

Every year you start over so I don’t have expectations but it would be cool if we had fun while throwing PRs and did better than we’re seeded at during championship meets.

Looking forward to starting training at the end of September with my new and old bruins and seeing who will join our Den next. 🐻🐻🐻 taken in Los Angeles, California by @coachdenard
