Our final meet of this 2026 track season was “The Best of the Best” State Championships in Huntington, here are the podium finishers:

Champions🏆:
Kea’lan Coatney, 200-meter (23.69)🥇
Boys 4x800-meter relay (9:04.39)🥇

Second place:
Boys 4x200-meter relay (1:39.01)🥈
Boys 4x400-meter relay (3:53.05)🥈
Boys shuttle hurdle relay (37.67) 🥈

Third place:
Duncan Webster, 800-meter (2:13.16)🥉

Fourth place:
Jasir Singleton, 200-meter hurdles (28.70)🏅

Fifth place:
Akoma Berkoh, 400-meter dash (1:02.44)🏅
Michaela Bean, Discus (85-09 feet)🏅

Athlete Spotlight🏃🏽‍♂️🏆

Yesterday, 8th grader Kea’lan Coatney competed in the 200-meter dash where he placed first in the Coalfield Conference Championships!

While winning the event, he also ran a lifetime PR in dominating fashion running a 23.68 which places him #1 in the entire state for middle school track and field standards!

Kea’lan will be competing in the “Best of the Best” meet this Saturday in Huntington where he has a shot to bring home a state championship back to Princeton!

Today, our Princeton Tigers competed at the Coalfield Conference in Oak Hill, and here are some of the results:

8 school records
55 total personal records
18 first place finishes
44 top 5 finishers
Most importantly, Conference Champions!🏆

After this week, I figured this is the perfect time to preach about adversity building character.

Using track as an example, my goal is to show my athletes that adversity is inevitable, everybody will face adversity and you can’t escape it. It is all about how you respond to the adversity which will help build character.

As a coach, it our job to give our athletes as much free game as possible using our sport, and apply it to everyday life! #dawgsonly #gotigers🐅 by @coachgardner20
