Son, your season has had its challenges for sure. I admire your grit. When faced with health adversity, you locked in and did what was necessary to physically recover. Returning to the state tournament this sophomore year is an accomplishment all on it's own but I know you are only focused on what's in front of you. by @coachjonno

Happy birthday to my son, Helo (Jonah). While I always want the best for you in wrestling, I am just as proud - if not more - of what you have accomplished in every other part of your life. Even with your deep love for the sport, you have continued to push forward and achieve things that doctors once said you couldn’t or shouldn’t. That alone says so much about your heart and your determination.

What matters most to me is not just what you do on the mat, but who you are as a person. You have stayed focused on developing your other talents and becoming a young man of faith and honesty. You are honest with God, honest with others, and honest with yourself. That has shaped you into an honors student who excels in every subject and into a young man of integrity—someone who wouldn’t steal, wouldn’t get drunk, and who treats women with respect.

I am especially proud of the hard work you’ve done outside of school to help finance your own private school education. That shows real maturity and responsibility. It shows that you understand the importance of these high school years and that you refuse to let obstacles stand between you and your goals.

It makes me proud to see you battle fiercely against your opponents on the mat, yet remain kind and generous to your teammates. You are truly fair and compassionate to others, sometimes even to a fault. You have been obedient to both God and your parents, and you show respect in a way that naturally earns respect in return.

You lead by example in the virtues I value most. Those virtues will carry you far in life. You are trustworthy, faithful, intelligent, and hardworking. You know how to push through pain and physical adversity, and you still show up every day ready to challenge yourself again.

It’s not uncommon for people your age to give in to temptation, to fall into peer pressure, or to make excuses for not living morally. But you don’t. You stay focused on what is righteous, upright, and decent, and that is what makes you truly special.

For a second year in a row, Helo (Jonah) wins the Rod Gaines tournament. Gets the Outstanding Wrestler. 4 matches all ending with a pinfall in the first period and had zero points scored against him. It's a good way to start the season. taken in Tokay High School Lodi by @coachjonno

Self motivated and head strong. My son graduated from BYU and with multiple choices for graduate school. Has now selected to continue his education at the University of Utah's J Quinney College of Law for his Juris Doctor degree, ranked #12 in the country. From being a misfit in elementary school not allowed to "graduate" 8th grade, barely getting out of high school with a diploma to then have a nearly perfect university academic experience proves it's never too late. taken in Marriott Center by @coachjonno
