Welcome to THE New Year!
The one you were praying and preparing for all through the High Holy Days...

Now the question is: What are you going to do with it?

Join us for an evening of harnessing the light, energy and magic you collected throughout the
month of Tishrei and find ways to implement and integrate it into the next many months.

Led by Moishe Dov Chanin, this interactive workshop will be based on the Chassidic concept of ויעקב הלך לדרכו - V’Yaakov Holech L’darko “And Jacob went on his way” from Bereishit 32:2.

SURELY the mighty waters cannot extinguish us when we love one another (play with words) by @coachmoishe

14 years.

Tonight, Simchas Torah night, marks 14 years since my last drink or drug.

Fourteen years ago I was on my way to the roof to end my life. Hashem gave me one moment of clarity, just long enough to call my brother @kuttyc and say, “Please come stop me.”

It was the first time I ever asked for help. And people showed up.

That night was also the night @chaya.chanin stopped hiding and asked for help too. My recovery is our recovery.

Since I started telling my story, I’ve watched something shift in Crown Heights and across the Jewish world. The silence is cracking. Asking for help is becoming less shameful. Big thanks to @neshamos !!

Thank you:

My brothers, @crownheightshatzalah , Jack M. a”h, and “Mendel,” for showing up that night and after.

Rabbi Chaim Fogelman @musicrabbi , for driving 4+ hours to visit me in rehab and sitting with the staff to learn how to support me at home.

@avishteingartlcsw @fitzrabin , @jpmorganjr , @rivkygross , @somaticflow_byhadas ,Moshe Haim Stour @hineiniworkshops , @thesafefoundation and so many others, for guiding and supporting me.

My friends in recovery, my clients and mentees, who keep supporting me one day at a time.

My parents and siblings and Chaya’s family, for celebrating every milestone and being so proud of us.

And all of YOU.
So many of you have stopped me in the street, sent a message, or shared your own story.
Your support for my journey and my work has carried me more than you know.

Chaya, my partner in all of it, and my children @vivichanin @rafi_chanin , these 14 years are ours.

If you or someone you love is struggling, I’m an addiction recovery coach, and helping people find their way to “recovery and beyond” is my life’s work. DM me any time, confidentially. Asking for help is an act of courage, not weakness.

People will show up.

With deep gratitude,
Moishe Dov

19 years.

Our simplest anniversary moment, and it has felt the most rewarding.

I don’t always know how we made it this far, and I certainly know we have a many journeys to go.

I don’t wish all the challenges we’ve have on anyone but I bless you all, with the willingness for each other, the commitment, the love and growth that is possible.

Excited to celebrate in many ways over the next 19 years and more xxx by @coachmoishe

This Shavuot, we’re creating a space for people to celebrate deeply, connect meaningfully, learn, dance, rest, dress up, eat extraordinarily well, and genuinely enjoy Jewish life together.

Thoughtful kids and teen programming. Inspiring teachers and facilitators. Beautiful spaces designed for joy, depth, and connection.

We built the kind of community we were looking for ourselves. The kind we always knew was possible.

Shavuot in one week 🤍 and we are ready for you.

Started with friendship. Turned into something much bigger.

A space where people can show up fully, celebrate deeply, dress up, dance, learn, connect, and genuinely enjoy Jewish life together.

We built the kind of community we were looking for ourselves.

Our Shavuot Gathering is in two weeks 🤍

I rarely post here, but this week’s session at Aliya felt like a good excuse to break the silence.

We ended up having a really honest conversation about the Aizehu Chacham Mishna. Usually, it’s taught as advice for the wise person, that you should learn from everyone.

But I shared a perspective from the Rebbe that completely flips the script. It’s not about the Chacham; it’s about the Adam! You and me. Every single person has a unique gift they were put here to contribute, to teach the chacham! and when we make it our business to share that gift, HaShem blesses everyone involved.

That led into a really deep, unscripted question from the director: What is the biggest challenge I see in my coaching practice regarding financial success?

I explained that if we want to move a heavy structure, we don’t push from the top. We go to the foundation. I’ve found that almost every strategy problem I see in my work is actually an identity problem. If our belief about ourselves is shaky, our actions will be too.
We spent a good amount of time breaking that down, and I honestly didn’t realize how passionate I was about this until I started speaking.

I’m planning to write a longer article on this soon to do the topic justice. In the meantime, I really loved the energy in the room. If you’re involved in an organization or group that’s looking for someone to lead a discussion on topics like these, I’d love to chat. Reach out via dm if you think it’d be a good fit.
Much love

If a doctor runs into a surgery room carrying the very disease they’re trying to treat, they aren't helping - they’re part of the problem.

The same is true for our community’s mental health.

If we approach our children’s struggles with our own fear, survival mode, or self-centered anxiety, we can’t provide the medicine they actually need. To be a source of healing, we have to ensure we aren’t bringing the "disease" of unaddressed trauma or emotional instability into the room.

This is why the Bereishis Foundation exists.

We don’t just "fix" problems; we provide the environment for true healing:

For the Youth: Giving them the language of resilience through our school curriculums so they don't catch the "disease" of despair.

For the Families: Removing the financial burden of therapy so parents can focus on being the healthy, steady presence their children need.

We are 22 days away from our 1st Anniversary on May 8th. Help us keep the community healthy! by @coachmoishe
