There’s something profoundly heartbreaking about watching men and women grow to resent one another. Two halves of humanity, each longing to be understood, yet increasingly convinced the other is the enemy. Somewhere along the way, pain became prejudice, disappointment became resentment, and individual betrayals became collective convictions.

We’ve allowed the people who broke our hearts to shape how we see the people who haven’t even had the opportunity to love us.

And perhaps that’s the greatest tragedy of all. We are punishing strangers for wounds they never inflicted, building walls against people who might have been the very ones to remind us why love was worth believing in.

I could never bring myself to hate the opposite sex. There is something almost divine about our differences. The way we see the world through different eyes, experience life through different hearts, and possess qualities that challenge, soften, strengthen, and complement one another. Not because either is incomplete without the other, but because there is extraordinary beauty in discovering what exists beyond ourselves.

We were never meant to be reflections of one another. We were meant to find beauty in what we do not mirror.

I refuse to believe that the cruelty of some should eclipse the beauty of so many. I refuse to let bitterness masquerade as wisdom or emotional detachment be mistaken for strength.

Because at the end of the day, what a devastating thing it would be to spend our lives resenting the very people whose love we secretly hope to experience.

The world doesn’t need men and women competing over who has suffered more. It needs more people brave enough to remain tender in a world that keeps giving them reasons to become hard. 🖤🤞🏼 taken in Coachella, California by @coachmontez87

I’m at that strange intersection in life where my soul still craves chaos, but my heart craves permanence.

I want something real. Someone who feels like home without making life feel like confinement. Because I don’t want to “settle down” if settling down means we stop living.

I still want concerts where we lose our voices, raves where time disappears, spontaneous trips, unfamiliar cities, and nights that become stories. I want early mornings chasing stronger versions of ourselves in the gym, followed by good food and zero guilt about enjoying the life we work so hard to build.

But I want the quiet, too. Slow mornings. Lazy Sundays. Falling asleep on the couch. The kind of silence that somehow feels full when you’re beside the right person.

Maybe that’s my contradiction…part of me wants roots, and part of me will always need wings.

The older I get, the more I realize we treat time like an inheritance when it was always a loan. Someday there will be a last show, a last road trip, a last ordinary Sunday….and we probably won’t know it while we’re living it.

So I refuse to sleepwalk through this life.

I don’t need someone to tame me. I need someone whose soul still has teeth. Someone who understands that love shouldn’t require either of us to become smaller just to make room for the other.

Give me roots without taking my wings. Peace without extinguishing my fire. Stability without monotony.

I don’t want someone waiting at home while I experience the world.

I want someone beside me when I look around and realize….this is the life we used to dream about living.🖤 by @coachmontez87
