Mount Kilimanjaro is a dormant volcano in Tanzania. With three volcanic cones — Kibo, Mawenzi and Shira — it is the highest mountain in Africa and the highest single free-standing mountain above sea level in the world: 5,895 m (19,341 ft) above sea level and 4,900 m (16,100 ft) above its plateau base. It is also the highest volcano in the Eastern Hemisphere.

My intention was to summit Mount Kilimanjaro, however Spirit had another plan. I injured my knee hiking the highest elevation in Los Angeles the day before I left for Tanzania. It was definitely a sign, this was supposed to be more than an intense hike, it was a spiritual journey! I did spend a day in the mountain at approximately 6000 ft in elevation. Met the beautiful people of the Chagga tribe, who guided me to waterfalls and the tropical rainforest of Mount Kilimanjaro, where mangoes, bananas, coffee beans, papaya, sugarcane and host of other vegetation grows in abundance.

I did see the summit piercing through the clouds from the airplane as I departed Tanzania as a reminder that I’ll be back! 🦾🦾🙏🏾 #MountKilimanjiro #Nature #SpiritualJourney by @coachnabeast

My visit with the beautiful Maasai people, one of the oldest still existing tribes in Tanzania and East Africa. The Maasai are cattle herders who coexist with the animals here in the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. They believe in the spiritual power of nature. They are very self-sufficient, the men gather the building materials for their homes and the women build them. The children are smart and learn to speak several languages. Them and the cattle they raise seem to be healthy, no disease or malnourishment. They welcomed me with song and dance and took me for a tour through their village. #Maasai #Culture #Africa taken in Masai Village, Ngorogoro, Tanzania by @coachnabeast
