State Champions.

My first as a Head Coach. This moment was so special. But don’t mistake these smiles for a week without tears.

I lost my second father. The man who introduced me to this game and never let me quit it. The man who begged my mama to let me play. The man who saw something in me before I ever saw it in myself.

When I got the news, it felt like my heart stopped.
Like the air left the room.
Like my body was standing but my spirit collapsed.

I was devastated.

And somehow… we still had games to win.

So we leaned into each other.
We prayed harder.
We locked in deeper.

Every practice felt heavier.
Every huddle meant more.
Every whistle reminded me why he put that ball in my hands in the first place.

So if we played with a different level of intensity…
If I coached with a different level of fire…
Now you know why.

Pain became purpose.
Grief became grit.
And God became my strength when mine was gone.

He steadied what was shaking.
He carried what I couldn’t.
He let us finish the mission.

And these girls? They carried me too.

They played with discipline. With fire. With purpose. They locked in deeper. They fought harder. They finished what we started — and what you started years ago.

This wasn’t just about a trophy.
This was legacy in motion.
This one was for you Dre’.

Dre’, this championship has your fingerprints all over it. You planted the seed years ago. You built the foundation. We just kept building.

Legacy doesn’t die. It multiplies.
We brought it home.
And we brought you with us. 🕊️🏆

✨ God’s Plan, My Assignment ✨

I give all glory and honor to God—the head of my life, the reason for this assignment. This moment is not about titles or positions. It’s about obedience. It’s about staying faithful when it was hard, trusting His voice when the path wasn’t clear, and never letting go of the promise. Every stop along my coaching journey, God has been shaping me for this moment. Today, I step into my assignment as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Mount Zion Christian Academy. As the new Women’s Coach, my mission is bigger than wins. I’m here to restore, rebuild, and breathe life into this program and into the young women I serve. 🏀 This isn’t coincidence—this is calling. This is God’s plan.

For the past 10 years, I’ve poured my heart into coaching—mentoring, building, and preparing young women to succeed on and off the court. To my former players at Webb—you will always have my heart. Your trust, your effort, and your growth gave me the strength and wisdom to carry into this new chapter. You helped shape me into the coach and woman of faith I am today, and I thank you deeply. ❤️

I was a Warrior at Webb.
I am a Warrior at Mount Zion.
And by God’s grace—I’ll be a Warrior forever. 💛❤️

They say that the littlest things in life truly are the best things. Janoah, you’re more than expected, better than I ever imagined, and all I could have wished for. & It only took nine months to create this lifetime of love. 📍 THE ZOO

In the ZOO w/ the rillas 🦍🖤🏀

Good hoops. Good energy. Even better community.

But one thing that really stuck with me was seeing so many active Black fathers out there — babies in arms, kids on the sidelines, dads showing up and being PRESENT. 🖤 That may not have been the purpose of the event, but it was definitely something I noticed and appreciated.

This is what community looks like. Basketball brought everybody together, but the love for the game, community support, and fellowship made it bigger than the just a game. ❤️‍🔥

Shoutout to @thezoo919 x Ballers Unite for putting on an incredible event and creating something for the community. Smith’s Clips will DEFINITELY be back. 🦍📸

The equipment has changed.

But one thing hasn’t:

I’ve always believed athletes deserve photos that make them feel like stars.

This screen right here never gets old.

Most people only see the finished photos. They don’t see the hours spent sorting through hundreds of images, narrowing down favorites, making edits, exporting files, writing emails, and making sure every gallery is something I can be proud to put my name on. 📸

Tonight, another gallery is headed home.

As I sat here watching these images export, I couldn’t help but smile. What started as a simple idea turned into moments that this family will be able to look back on years from now.

That’s the part of photography I love the most.

Not the camera.
Not the software.
Not even the photos themselves.

It’s knowing that a laugh, a hug, a goofy face, or a quiet moment that lasted only a few seconds gets preserved forever.
