Happy heavenly birthday Gramma! She would have been 93 today. 🥳🎂🕊️

My world got a little darker the day you left… I didn’t get a 29th birthday. I was walking out of work the day before and I got a call from mom letting me know that you had experienced cardiac arrest, you were rushed to Long Island Jewish, & you were in a coma. I then bought a one-way plane ticket to NY on some fuck that job, dunno when I’ll be back shit, where I had to see you in this coma for the majority of 8 days. I was relieved when you woke up but I still didn’t realize at the time that that was going to be the last time I’d be able to see & talk to you. The next time you were in a casket. The whole experience was traumatic for me & definitely left a bigger punch than losing Grampa ON Christmas. My heart felt so heavy because I lost one of the few people that I never had to question or guess if they cared about me, who actually would check up on me, show up, & actually listen when I shared things - not just let me talk and have everything I say go in one ear & out the other. Thank you for always listening to me Gramma, you never treated me like I was annoying or needed to go away.

On the plane ride home after your funeral I couldn’t stop crying. I was so thankful that the plane was basically empty. I was having the moment of realization how there would be no more summers in NY with you, or adventuring to different states & countries for reunions to see you. For a Grandparent that never lived in the same state as me, I saw you quite often. I loved that. You always used to send me cards, I wish I saved more of them. You and mom are the ONLY ppl allowed to call me Daniella. I don’t think you’ve ever spelled my name with an “e” at the end 🙈

At your funeral, everybody reflected on their times with you, including you popping everyone with spatulas… I just had to be quiet cus you never did that to me 😅😂 every time I’d see you, you’d say “Hey Dahlin!”, give me big hugs, slip me money 🤑 & tell me to smile! My pockets were never empty around you. Whenever I see “smile” randomly, I know it’s you. I do just that, and say “okay Gramma 😬”

I need some more Pearl, Lucy, & Ethel time and another Loge linkup! I miss the times 🧡 I know there’s a lot of photos, I plan to take more. 😬

Soon it’ll be 10 years since Joey passed. I miss photobombing each other & causing mischief around the arena. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t finesse for anyone, even while he was hurting & cancer was breaking his body down. Every event, he “convinced” a new group of people that they enjoyed fireball shots. 🥵 🤮

Working as a loge server, it was like we were all hosting multiple groups for every event - but in an intimate area. We created a spiel 🤑 Hockey became my favorite sport 🏒 I discovered chocolate covered gummy bears were delicious 🐻 I always drank up the Honest apple juice we stocked for the kids 🧃 I didn’t know Andrea Bocelli was blind (or who he was) and I asked why he looked drunk….. Joey said “He’s blind Dani” ….. 😅😱🙊🤐 (omg I have adhd fr.)

I was so excited when I bought my first longboard, I went to test it out with noooo grip 🤦🏾‍♀️ of course I fell… & when I did, my phone flew out my pocket! Went back to my car & realized my phone was gone 😱 went back to where I fell & saw that either my fall did this or a car ran over it 😬 thank youuuu phone insurance!

& unlike my example in some of these videos, wear the right skate shoes too 😅
