Happy October!

A quick note to let you know I’ve got a new song, Lobster, coming out on Tuesday 10/13, and I’ll be at @ojaiunderground that Friday, 10/16, for a show with @alchemikalartz to celebrate the release, and democracy while we still have one. 😬

Grab yer tix at the link in my bio to either stream us from your couch or join us IRL to fight fascism the old fashioned way, together with music! 💪

I hope you dig Lobster, and please be sure to give it a save and a share when it comes out!

✌️❤️🦞

Got to catch up with Oscar Perez, one of my oldest and dearest, last night at the Hollywood Bowl where he was playing with force of nature, Lakecia Benjamin. Oscar and I played together way back when, loading gear in and out of cabs to play every hole in the wall in the city, so it was extra sweet to see him on one of the greatest stages in the world sounding so good along with the rest of an incredible band for John Coltrane’s 100th birthday celebration. Go see them if they’re close to you! ⚡️❤️✌️🤯 taken in Hollywood Bowl by @cobybrownmusic

Please join me and @alchemikalartz for a decidedly analogue night of songs and their origin stories to celebrate the release of my next single, Lobster🦞 on Friday, October 16th, in Ojai at @ojaiunderground. 7pm.

You can grab tickets at the link below or in my bio if you want to be there in the flesh, or to stream from afar if that’s where you are.

It’s gonna be a special night and
we’d love to have you join us either way for our first show in this intimate room.

And big ups to @crawlspacepress for the poster. It’s based on the fantastic picture @ltstillpix captured in the third slide while we were shooting the video for 21st Century with @wearelimitless1 a few years back.

Thank you, as always, for your support!

✌️❤️⚡️

Some thoughts on our kids’ first visit to NYC and the 25th anniversary of 9/11. Hope you’ll give it a look. Thinking of the NYC first responders, the victims, everyone who lost someone they love, all who lost a part of themselves that day. ✌️❤️

I was in NYC last week and thought I’d give you a tour of my old neighborhood, Gramercy Park, where the seeds for Agatha Christie were sown way back when. Alas, I’ve assembled more a tour of my neck than the neighborhood, but you’ll get the idea.

Enjoy, and stream Agatha Christie at the link in my bio!

☔️✌️⚡️❤️

Family field trip to NYC. I was real ready to leave New York when I did in 2002. I’d been grinding for 5+ years and I remember giving the skyline the bird as I drove up the west side with my life in the back of the band van. It’s amazing what 24 years can do. On this trip, I finally caught some of that buzz I had when I first moved there in 96. Got some writing I want to do about it for sure, but for now it’s safe to say I had a blast showing these nerds all the places I lived and worked and played, and watching them fall in love with NY for themselves was an all time parenting highlight. Some other highlights were seeing @zekeparz and his kiddo, making the rounds with the amazing @caughtoffbase, and a quick catch up with @starrett_
More to come, but thanks, NY, for a real good time!❤️⚡️✌️ by @cobybrownmusic

I’m thrilled to let you know that the official video for Agatha Christie, directed by the very talented @rennymaslow, is out today and available at the link in my bio! We had a blast shooting this at Matter Music and the iconic El Royale in LA. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did making it. Big thanks to @justinstanleymusic for the use of the room and piano and for photo 1. I hope you’re having a great summer and can’t wait to play for you soon. ☔️⚡️❤️✌️ by @cobybrownmusic

Happy 4th of July! Grateful to be spending it in a beautiful place with people I love and I hope you are too. I exercised my First Amendment right to free speech and wore this t shirt to the parade today. I got some cold looks and some kind ones too, but I think deep down everyone’s on board for Willie for prez, right? ✌️ ❤️⚡️

Hey all! Here is my first proper essay on my Substack, the Swear Jar! Compare and Despair, indeed. Sometimes we’re our own worst enemy, and I’ve certainly been mine. I decided to put this out because it’s a companion piece to Agatha Christie. I lived in NYC as John Mayer was on the upswing and I couldn’t get from here to there without evidence of his meteoric rise. It ate me up, but it wasn’t his fault. It took me a long time to realize Agatha Christie could be about that dynamic- a writer in the shadow of a rockstar occupying the same few city blocks of Manhattan. I hope you enjoy it!
