🦁I will never forget this sad day and Cecil@is always on my heart and thoughts 😭💔🙏🏽

🦁Ten years ago, Cecil the lion was killed by a trophy hunter who paid US$50,000 for the kill.⁣
⁣
Shot with a crossbow and left to suffer for hours, Cecil’s death shocked the world, and exposed the brutal reality of trophy hunting.⁣
⁣
A decade on, canned hunting and lion farming still profit from cruelty. But change is coming.⁣
⁣
New research shows more than 85% of community members living near Kruger National Park South Africa support a lion levy: a small conservation fee added to wildlife tourism.⁣
⁣
The lion levy is designed to protect lions in the wild and support local communities.⁣
⁣
The findings show it could replace revenue from trophy hunting and help end cruel practices like captive lion breeding.⁣
⁣
It’s a powerful, practical step towards protecting lions in the wild and supporting the people who live alongside them.⁣
⁣
Cecil’s death ignited a movement.⁣
⁣
Let’s honour his legacy by making sure the next ten years look very different for lions.⁣ @world_animal_protection

Everything that starts wrong, ends wrong.

AfricanPark and their fellow fundraisers did a really stupid job.

They hid the transfer.

And they hid Bon Jovi’s death in their media channels.

They take advantage of any promotion, like the Mufasa movie, to raise more money from the incapable of thinking.

Everyone remembers how the General was killed!

Everyone remembers that the supposed director of an organization was in Busanga when the General was being watched.

Bon Jovi had a Necklace, but the king’s monitoring was in vain. They will continue to deceive everyone with their publications of supposed kindness.

We are following lions because we love them! Not only lions I love all animals and I care for their wellbeing. I try not to use leather items and I avoid animal meat because I feel the animals have been mistreated by humans since time immemorial!
I have been following lion prides since 2005-06 when there was no social media and TV and magazines were the biggest sources of information. I want to ask you two questions:

1. We all care about Shipa and we are questioning his passing because the story being circulated about his fight and death lacks common sense attributes. All of you know about hyenas not leaving out meat and eating bones, no sign of his body in a busy Mara for so many days, the hasty conclusion etc etc. Some of you are actually way more knowledgable than me in terms of lions. So my first question is can you accept using ur common sense and lion knowledge to accept the fact that Shipa perished in a fight and the two other opponents were relatively unharmed without intervention from humans?

2. My second question is how come a group of people are acting almost desperate to to prove that Shipa died in fight? How are they so confident about this so called fight? Did they see the fight themselves? Did they record it! Did they take part in any kind of human intervention in that fight? If they are also lion livers like us they too should question Shipa’s death! However, they are acting weird and acting almost 😅 in desperation to somehow prove that Shipa died in battle. My question to this desperate group’” why are you guys so desperate? What is bothering you?
Shipa didn’t just die he exposed a lot of things.

Some goodbyes are the hardest because the love behind them is so great. 🦁🤍🌈

Today, we said goodbye to our beloved Napoleon.

At 15 years old, our handsome old man had lived a long life, filling so many hearts with memories, love and moments that will stay with us forever. But as much as we wished we could keep him with us a little longer, we had to put his comfort, dignity and peace first.

Over the past weeks, we watched his strength fade and despite all the care, medication and love surrounding him, his tired body was telling us that it was time to rest. Letting him go was one of the hardest decisions we have had to make, but sometimes love means putting their needs before our own broken hearts. 💔

One of the most difficult parts of saying goodbye is knowing that Napoleon leaves behind his lifelong companion, Acinonyx, lovingly known as Nona. These two boys have grown up together and shared almost their entire lives side by side. Their bond is something truly special, built over years of companionship, familiarity and simply having always been there for one another.

While we cannot take away the loss Nona will experience, we can promise him that he will not have to face the days ahead alone. We will surround him with extra love, patience and care, giving him the time and space he needs as he adjusts to life without his brother. 🤍🐾

Napoleon, our beautiful old man, thank you for 15 unforgettable years. Thank you for the memories, for the moments you gave us and for being such a special part of our Cheetah Experience family.

We wish we could have kept you here forever. But you have fought long enough and now you deserve to rest.

May your next chapter be filled with endless sunshine, soft grass beneath your paws and all the peace your beautiful heart deserves. And perhaps, somewhere over the Rainbow Bridge, there is a place where no body grows tired and no goodbye ever has to be said. 🌈🦁

You may no longer walk beside us, Napoleon, but you will forever walk within our hearts.

Rest peacefully, our handsome boy. You were loved beyond words, and you always will be. 🤍

Cats may be quiet about their suffering, but that does not mean their pain matters any less. Every cat deserves a safe home, gentle treatment, and protection from anyone who would deliberately cause harm. Animal abuse should never be excused or ignored simply
because the victim cannot speak for themselves. Every innocent cat deserves kindness, protection, and justice

🙏🏼🦁REST IN PEACE, NARIKU, THE LAST MATRIARCH

In this iconic photograph we see the lioness Nariku, of the Black Rock Pride, and the five cubs of the pride who would go on to form the iconic Black Rock Coalition. From left to right, Oloimina, lying down; Oloisiado, standing; Nariku, apparently sitting, in the background; Oloshipa, lying in front of her; Olobor, sitting; and Lorkulup, standing.

On 12 October 2026, Nariku died in the south-south-eastern sector of the Maasai Mara National Reserve, attacked by the TZ Lions, who had come from Tanzania. With her vanished the last of the three lionesses to whom the maternity of the Black Rock Coalition litters is attributed, Kakenya, Nado and Nariku. The four old Black Rock lions to whom paternity is attributed, Short Tail (or Half Tail), Orkini, Benna and Longo, had died years before, and of the five brothers, Oloisiado, Olobor, Lorkulup and Oloshipa have died. Of the original generation, among mothers, fathers and sons, only Oloimina remains, whom some shorten to the hypocorism Mina. In Maa, his name means “the solitary one” or “the lost one”, and also “the one who remains alone”. The synopsis of the documentary that followed the coalition from birth records the variant Olumina, rendered as “the lame one”, a gloss consistent with the atrophy of Oloimina’s left hind leg. Given to the cub with no relation to what was to come, the name already described the last lion of the coalition and now describes the last survivor of the entire generation.

The Reserve authorities and the Kenya Wildlife Service have a legal duty to protect Oloimina from the illegal grazing that takes place within the protected area every day of the year, even in broad daylight, without any known punishment of those responsible. Maasai communities in the surrounding area have an ethical duty to put an end to the entry of livestock into the Reserve and to preserve the last survivor of the Black Rock Coalition.

Rest in peace, Iconic Lions of Africa & Maasai Mara—we say goodbye and celebrate the life of the beloved queen and matriarch Nariku of the Black Rock pride 🌹 👑🙏🏻 Beloved Nariku was the legendary matriarch and oldest lioness of the Black Rock pride in Kenya’s Maasai Mara National Reserve. Born around 2011, she was approximately 15 years old. Known to safari enthusiasts as the pride’s “Queen Mother,” she was renowned for her exceptional strength and resilience, her keen survival instinct, and her pivotal role in raising some of the Maasai Mara’s most iconic male lion pairs. ~ Distribution of the Legacy ⚜️ Beloved Lorkulup (Lorki), born in 2017, son of Benna, an elderly male from Black Rock… The sole survivor of his litter to have left the natal den. He became a legendary father, known for his remarkable gentleness and protectiveness toward the Rongai lion pride, before passing away in 2025… Beloved Siankiki ~2019 Daughter of the Black Rock senior males (Longo/Benna/Orkini), one of Nariku’s most important daughters, who remains a member of the lineage… Beloved Lekijana ~2019 Offspring of the older Black Rock males (Longo/Benna/Orkini), a younger brother of the Black Rock Boys, who sadly passed away… ~ Nariku’s Fate 💔 She died recently, in October 2026, apparently killed by the male lions of the Tanzanian Coalition (known as the TZ Boys: Ormawoi, Lemayian, and Barenose) in the grasslands of the Maasai Mara… Rest in peace, legendary queen. You lived a full life and died a warrior. 💔💪🌹💖🙏🏻 ~ Edited by : Chantal Lisette Photo credit: 2 photographers 📸

⚠️⚠️ CORRUPTION IS THE MOTHER OF IMPUNITY

🦁Lorkulup was born between July and August 2017, in the Black Rock Valley, within the Maasai Mara National Reserve. His name, in Maa, means “runny nose”, in allusion to the discharge that ran from his right nostril. On his upper left lip, he bore the scar left by a cattle herder’s spear. He was reputed to be the greatest solitary buffalo hunter in the Reserve.
On the morning of 23 January 2025, beneath the mist, Lorkulup gave the last roar of which there is any record. Between the night of 25 January and the early hours of 26 January, according to the field reconstruction, an arrow smeared with “Acokanthera schimperi” poison struck him within an area protected by law. He lay in agony for about a day. No hand reached out to succour him. His remains came to light on the morning of 27 January, already dismembered.
Five days later, the Kenya Wildlife Service attributed the death to a confrontation with an eland and to opportunistic hyenas. Updates were promised, yet they never came. It treated as being of uncertain identity a lion that the agency itself had already called by name.
Oloisiado, Olobor, Lorkulup and Oloshipa have departed. There remains Oloimina, the solitary one, last of the Black Rock Coalition.

French edition of Tonight The Music Seems So Loud is out next month on @editions_seguier translated by Nicolas Chemla. Apparently the title didn’t work in French! I have a couple of copies to give away if you have French GM fans in your life. Just tell me the name that George Michael gave to his house in the South of France, and I’ll pick some names from the replies. www.sathnam.com/george by @cococorinne007
