"Hey Coco," my friend wrote, "such a cool letter on FB :) there is a typo in Coco Chanel though, ain't there?" ⏤ by the time I'd already printed the letter and posted a selfie of myself in front of the post office in Mainz. It was THE letter. A letter I wrote to the company of my namesake asking for help to pay for training at #NYFA. A letter on being the rebel, different. My father named is first daughter after her because she had paved the way for women in business. A letter on courage & innovation. Both my MacBook taught me that time, the hard way. Autocorrect made every CHANEL CHANCEL and that day I'd love to have disappeared forever. Was good I didn't.

I made it to New York Film Academy anyway, without CHANEL's help. They never responded. Only a year later the new fragrance CHANCE came out. "The most courageous act is still to think for yourself," Coco CHANEL said. "Aloud."

Love,——
Coco

PS: "Female noodity one should give to men by the teaspoon, not by the scoopful." (Coco CHANEL)*

On March 8, 2017 I chose myself. James @altucher says, this is an age of #chooseyourself: media production is cheaper than ever, with just 1 click you can put yourself out there. Although this is true, remember it's easier said. You still gotta do the work. Crowdfunding my degree at @newyorkfilmacademy was work but so rewarding.

By now, I have coached others on how to build a team & choose yourself through crowdfunding. Crowdfunding means you take a large sum of money as a goal (my overall target was $ 44,000) and ask people to chime in. @fennermusik first introduced me to it December 2016 when I had been awarded a scholarship. It was part of the tuition costs. The other part I had to raise myself. That way I learned,

The money I need for my vision is out there. I just gotta find it.

It taught me patience.
It taught me perseverance.
It taught me how to market my heart's desires.
It was called #NYCoco & #LACocoLoca.

I've met many artists saying, "Urgh, I hate marketing. Just let me do my art and let me be." And those are the ones struggling right now.

I like to say, "Stop looking at it as some narcissistic self-promo and start seeing it as something bigger." Every time before I hit the stage I say a prayer:

Dear Papa Gott: Please let me be Your vessel to what my fellow human beings need to see and feel right now. Magic, magic, do as you wish.

With marketing it's the same.
I see it as sharing.
Papa Gott gave me my talent for a reason, I trust my talent. So I can give back.
To you.
And to the force that created you and me.

I don't care about the award anymore, I care about it because you care. And you're gonna watch me win. Thank you for being a part of #TeamCocosLocos. Thank you for being a part of my dream. #Oscars2037

Let's go. 💪 @daughterofelysium.universe

May 28th is World Period Day reflecting the typical length of the menstrual cycle (5 days every 28 days) so I dug out this essay... 6 years and 1 month later. I noticed: "I am no longer that woman who wrote this in 2020. [...] I am still me but the armor is different now."

BLOODY HEVEN, OH DARLING is out on @steady.europe now. If you wanna support my essays written & recorded ⏤ but uncut — can join team Coco's Locos for 5 bucks a month. 💃 taken in Berlin, Germany by @cocodebruycker

Yesterday I just wanted to share some tips I learned living in California for almost 3 years. I wrote:
💀
Tips you can learn from humans living in hot climates:
1. Drink your water.
2. Open windows and doors only at night to let air in.
3. Block out light (therefore heat) during the day.
Germans, it ain't that hard. You just make it so. I love summer. Happy shining!
💀
I was called a supid European, ignorant girl, dumb. It didn't really touch me until my friend said "You deserve it," and he laughed, "I gotta work in the kitchen and at 40 degrees that's 55 degrees celsius by the stove."

So yeah, dude, you're right, I deserved it. But I learned: How much I despise complaining. That's how I was raised: Don't complain, put a smile on your face. Lieb sein. It's been a blessing and a curse. It taught me to work hard. I can achieve anything, it just looks a little different. But it also burnt me out by the age of 24.

Burnout, however, taught me emotions are teachers. Even the suppressed ones have a message and function.

It's funny because what I enjoy most online is that I can be myself. I don't have to explain. Just be. That's different when I walk into a room: my body moves differently and connecting to the disability community in 2017, I met a lot of humans who connected with me through disability only. But... See, you wouldn't give a shit about me if I wasn't living with cerebral palsy, would you?

A lot of humans use disease and disability as identity. I am glad if you find your people that way. But I also know this is not my way.

I am glad my threads post gave others the space to complain and hate. But I also know, we judge people by the way we judge ourselves. So the rage I received says more about your hurting inside than it says about me. Yes, my wording was insensitive. Yes, we need to make space to grieve but no, I won't make your BS my business. I got enough baggage full of my own BS. Bag lady learns to let go...

My point was: there are so many things I cannot control. Yet, I can control how I respond to the BS life throws at me. And I refuse to live in a bubble paralyzing my joy. I love life too much. by @cocodebruycker

I feel sorry... because with men it's like with terrorists: Just because 1 guy fucked up, I gotta get to the airport 3 hours early and we teach our children is OK to systematically discriminate against others based on looks. Because of 1 guy my nervous system is on overdrive. 1 guy, man. That guy said, "Coco, you cannot tell jokes but you are funny." My therapist says I am pretty strong. Both men. Now, who do I believe?

At 15 I had an idea: I grabbed my friend & said: 'Let's go busking in Mainz.' (The town I lived in aged 11 to 20). I had this vision: I set up a music stand with the score and turned it to the audience so whoever passes by can take a moment to join us. I wanted to create a moment of unity. Yes. I am a hippie. I can't help it.

So I began practicing the songs. Funny enough, those I knew how to play on the piano, I found the notes more easily.... the other ones... I practiced diligently. A loved one heard me laughing: 'Coco, you cannot sing. You sound like a "schiefe Kate."' (German: an old, abandoned hut in the woods) and that hurt. Because my why was deeper. 'But that is why I am rehearsing.' I didn't wanna exploit music for attention (like many pretty faces do on here) but for real connection. My friend ended up being too scared, our bass player flaked as well and I called it a day.

But hey, this is not Mainz and I am not 15 anymore. Berlin, if you wanna make this idea a reality, hit me up! What I am doing, I am doing for teenage me. It's a long way to go but I'm walking that walk! 💃
PEACE.——

Told my R&B loving brother to check out @kassaoverall because he's a modern day poet. Roy Hargrove once said the musicians back in the day knew how to talk to the ladies. They knew the poetry, you know. Now you hear rap and it's like "gimme some 🐱 while I'm doing my 12 chicks in gucci slippers." Thank God for artists like that gang, that gang that makes notyourparentskinda jazz. But we don't call it jazz anymore. Let's just say music. Jazz is for white people. I know, I'm white, lol. Bitteschön. PEACE.——Coco by @cocodebruycker

Problem is... Niklas probably doesn't speak English well enough to understand my response. But I'm sure y'all get what he was demanding.

Today I wanna speak for women older than me. In marriages. Marital rape has been recognized as a crime in 1997. The concept of "spousal consent," an outdated legal loophole where marriage implied continuous consent for sexual intercourse, was formally struck down and criminalized by the German Bundestag then.

Humans also tend to forget, the female body is not able to carry children until the end. The phase when her body adjusts to not bearing children anymore is called menopause. Symptoms include:

• irregular periods
• hot flashes
• night sweats
• sleep disturbances
• mood swings & low libido

So don't take it personally. It's not that she is having an affair or doesn't like you anymore. It's biology. It'll get better once she's settled into this new stage of hers physically, emotionally, mentally. Bitteschön. taken in Berlin, Deutschland by @cocodebruycker

Being chronically confused by other people's ego show is just who I am now, I guess... ASK YOURSELF, WHAT ARE YOU DOING IT FOR?, is now out on @steady.europe. Don't worry, I recorded the audio version of this essay with my window closed, audiophiles. ♥️ Crisp & Coco-Laetitia Uncut. Link in bio. 🎹

Lil @therealmarcusmiller appreciation post cuz it's his birthday 🎉 Got into his music at 16 when my parents brought Ranaissance home. And yes, he was first to call his album Ranaissance, before Queen B did 🐝 just FYI.

In 2013 I suggested to the directors of the Jugendclub Produktion ALLES MUSS RAUS at Staatstheater Mainz to use his cover I'll Be There as background music to my monologue but it got rejected. Although I respect that decision, I kept listening to that song pre show time, that song and that production has been connected to my memory temple no matter what. Thanks again to @martinapipprich for catching me in that show.

Couldn't go to the concert at Mainz Zitadelle 15 July 2013 because I was babysitting. But I got a signed poster in return and it said "PEACE ☮️ Coco, [signed Marcus Miller]". In the frequent moves I lost it but the message stuck with me even years later. Peace. Coco. I've been telling myself for a while now. Stop the hurting, Coco, stop the war within yourself. Do as Marcus says. Peace.

Funny how music accompanies you all the years. What's your soundtrack? by @cocodebruycker
