It’s no secret that Tokyo has some of the world’s best listening bars. Not sure where to start? Tatler’s regional travel editor @cocomarett shares some of her favourites.

According to her, the perfect night in Tokyo involves posting up at one of these bars, timeless records on play—jazz, hip hop, city pop, rock, take your pick—a highball in hand and great company.

It’s important to note, however, that Japan’s listening bars are not nightclubs or places to party. While some may allow a bit of ruckus, they’re generally places to relax and enjoy music. Be sure to read the room and enjoy respectfully. Kanpai 🥃
