My very first magazine cover was with Cleveland Magazine, and that issue sold for just $2.00. I remember how exciting it felt to see myself on a magazine cover for the very first time.

Today, I’m beyond grateful to be celebrating my second cover feature with Black Girl Living Magazine, now out and looking absolutely beautiful!

What makes this feature even more special is the incredible 8-page spread that takes readers on a journey through my world, from my beloved Frenchie Cottage to the magic that lives behind the NARNIA doors of Coco’s Selfie Space.

As I flipped through the pages, I couldn’t help but reflect on the journey. Sometimes it’s important to pause and appreciate how far you’ve come. A little girl with big dreams could never have imagined all the places God would take her.

Daily I’m reminded that God has a beautiful way of exceeding our expectations.

A heartfelt thank you to Black Girl Living Magazine for sharing my story and allowing me to invite readers into the spaces, creativity, and imagination that have shaped my journey.

This is why I love making my own chalk paste with Coco’s Chalky Powder👇🏼

▪️easy to make and super forgiving
▪️long shelf life
▪️custom colors
▪️extra crisp lines when stenciling
▪️I don’t have to buy and store a bunch of individual chalk paste colors, I can just make the amount I need for my project
▪️washes off smooth glossy surfaces and chalkboards for reusable home decor signs

Here’s how I make my own DIY chalk paste at home using acrylic paint + Coco’s Chalky Powder ⤵️

🎨 Start with any acrylic paint (I’m using Anita’s)

🧂 Then mix in Coco’s Chalky Powder to thicken it up; I like a 1:1 ratio

💪 Want it thicker? Add more powder. Too thick? Add more paint. It’s super forgiving!

🫙 Bonus: It has a long shelf life, so you can mix a batch and use it again later

This DIY chalk paste works beautifully with my Ikonart stencils for those extra crisp lines. Let us know if you try it!

PRO TIP 👉🏼 Mixing Coco’s Chalky Powder with acrylic paint creates DIY chalk paste, which helps get those nice crisp lines when stenciling. If you have issues with paint bleeding under the edges of your stencils, definitely give it a try 🙌🏼 by @cocoschalkypowder

BEFORE AND AFTER.
Sometimes creativity is not about having a huge budget… it’s about seeing the potential..

This weekend I challenged myself to completely transform this cottage room for UNDER $100… and honestly, I love how it turned out. 💙

Here’s the breakdown:

• Crown moulding
Measured, cut, and installed myself — $25

• Paint makeover
I found a gallon of BLUE “oops paint” for only $10.
Then I added Coco’s Chalky Powder™ ($15) and Floetrol ($11), which stretched the paint to 1 1/2 gallons! Enough to completely color drench the walls, ceiling, lampshades AND even the couch.

• The finishing touch
I already had the Venus de Milo statue, so I gave her a chalk paint makeover and added light strips for $5 to create that moody glow.

The next day…this swanky cottage room feels rich, dramatic, cozy, artistic and completely transformed.

So grateful I’ve found ✨@cocoschalkypowder✨ - This week at work we had a camp and we made window paints using Coco’s Chalky Powder.

I was first introduced to Coco’s chalk powder product years ago and have used it throughout the years to create chalk paint for sidewalk murals, but it has SO many different ways it could be used!

Not only is it really simple to create, the colors of the paint are vivid when used, it’s safe and easy for kids to paint with, and all you need is water to clean it off windows. These kiddos used the paint to explore the 4 C’s of our organization — they had a lot of fun adding to the windows, mixing new colors, and learning different ways to paint.

All we needed for these paints was Coco’s Chalky powder, tempera paint (you can also use acrylic but I’ve found tempera makes it even easier to clean!), and water.

We created this Valentine’s Day sign using a custom Ikonart stencil and homemade chalk paste. We also made some puzzle piece magnets with our @xtool.official F2 laser. Watch to see the whole thing come together 👀

For the chalk paste we mixed pink and red acrylic paint with Coco’s Chalky Powder. This DIY chalk paste is easy to make, easy to use, and easy to remove.

We just mix our paint and powder in a one-to-one ratio for super crisp lines when stenciling.

After Valentine’s Day we will remove this design and swap it out with a St. Patrick’s Day one. That way we only have to store one sign for every holiday instead of a bunch of different signs. Perfect!

Sound on for some satisfying stencil peel ASMR

Choose any design you want, no matter how detailed.

With Ikonart stencils, as long as you print your artwork dark enough, you can hold very fine details and distressed designs when making your Ikonart stencils.

No weeding. No hassle.

For paper journal covers and cardstock we use our blue stencil film since it is not as sticky as our purple film. Works great!

Then we thicken our acrylic paint with a little bit of @cocoschalkypowder to make sure we get those nice crisp edges.
