Happy to share this wonderful initiative from our colleagues at Conservatorium Maastricht.

Jazz Camp for Girls creates a welcoming space for girls to discover jazz, explore improvisation, build confidence and make music together.

Creating more opportunities for girls to find their place in jazz is important for the future of our music community. We’re proud to support initiatives like this that help make the jazz world more open, diverse and inclusive.

≡ CODARTS MUSIC TOP RATED IN THE NETHERLANDS ≡ Codarts Music ranks first in its category in the Keuzegids hbo 2027!

All bachelor’s programmes at Codarts Rotterdam have been awarded Top Programme status in the Keuzegids hbo 2027.

And we’re especially proud to see our Music programmes leading their categories. Music — including Jazz, Pop, Global Musics, Classical Music and Music Theatre — ranks first in its category.

For us, this recognition reflects the high quality of education we provide and the daily commitment of our students, teachers and staff. It’s a great recognition of the inspiring learning environment we strive to create across our Music programmes.

Congratulations to our entire Codarts community! 🎶

☰ Efe Erdem joins Codarts Jazz faculty ☰
We are very happy to welcome trombonist, composer, arranger, educator and creative producer Efe Erdem to our Jazz faculty.
A familiar face at Codarts already, Efe now joins our trombone section as a permanent teacher. And he brings a wealth of international experience with him - from North Sea Jazz, Montreux Jazz Festival and Blue Note Tokyo to collaborations with artists including Marcus Miller, Victor Wooten, Roy Hargrove, Snarky Puppy and KNOWER.
Efe is also a Codarts alumnus: he graduated from our Jazz programme in 2012, having studied with Bart van Lier and Ilja Reijngoud.

For Efe, teaching is all about curiosity, exploration and finding your own voice:
“Music has always been about exploration for me. I believe musicians grow by staying curious, crossing boundaries and remaining open to different sounds and influences. As a teacher, I want to help students trust their instincts, develop their own artistic voice and shape an identity that truly feels like their own.”

We can't wait to see and hear how Efe's experience, versatility and curiosity will inspire our students.

☰ CODARTS JAZZ KICK-OFF WEEK ☰ Today we wrapped up our Jazz department-specific Kick-Off Day, and what a great way to close the week!

It was wonderful to see how quickly our new students have already started to connect and become a close group after just a few days together.

And of course, there was no better way to celebrate than with music. We closed the day with a big jam session, bringing our new students and teachers together on stage.

A great start to a new year at Codarts Jazz. We’re looking forward to everything that’s ahead! 🎶

☰ CODARTS JAZZ KICK-OFF WEEK ☰ We’re back! Last Monday we kicked off the new academic year by welcoming our new Jazz students with a meet & greet, followed by the general Kick-Off Week programme.

It was great to see our new students connect, meet their classmates and team, and get their first taste of life at Codarts.

And we’re not done yet! We’re looking forward to our Jazz department-specific day this Friday, where students will dive deeper into their programme, meet their study coaches and get ready for the year ahead.

And of course, we’ll close the day with one of our favourite Codarts traditions: a big jam session with our students and teachers. 🎶

Welcome to Codarts Jazz — let’s make some music together!
