📣 📣 📣 New Code Black Podcast Alert! Canadian actor, writer, producer Arnold Pinnock chats with us about his new historical drama The Porter - the largest Black-led TV series ever created in Canada 🙌🏾 .

Originated by Pinnock (@aplife7) and Bruce Ramsay, The Porter follows the civil rights struggle of railway porters in the 1920s who collaborate to create North America's first Black labour union. The Porter is inspired by real events and primarily set in Montreal, Chicago and Detroit, as the world rebuilds after the First World War.

After years of pitching the series and it finally coming to fruition, Pinnock says he’s extremely proud of the show, and everyone involved became fully immersed in the project. “It takes a village to raise a child, and ‘The Porter’ became a child,” says Pinnock. The CBC and BET+ original series airs Monday nights on CBC and CBC Gem.

⚖️You weigh in ⚖️: Do you think companies are doing better or worse by Black employees? What can they do better? 🗣🗣🗣 Code Black board member @brooketheg comments in @globeandmail about the work that still needs to be done for organizations to make safe spaces for Black employees, “It seems that employers have been very focused on the hiring and recruitment pipeline of Black Canadians and less so on intangible factors like comfort level of minorities in a workplace where there is one dominant group.” The article also says, “Canadian employers have made significant progress in understanding systemic racism and creating a more racially equitable work environment, but that cognizance has not necessarily translated into better job opportunities for Black Canadians, according to new research from KPMG Canada. The consulting giant surveyed more than 1,000 employees who identify as Black Canadian – of different income levels and across a broad swath of industries – to gauge how promises made by employers to address systemic barriers faced by Black employees actually translated into tangible change at the workplace for them. What is the power of a legacy? What do you want others to feel when you leave a room, a job, this earth? ALT had a life that was as glamorous as it was challenging. But he created a legacy.

This is a celebration of the legacy of a larger-than-life icon, the epitome of iconic, a trailblazer for Black people in the fashion and creative industry.
