So long softball…

I think this song perfectly describes what it’s like to walk away from something you’ve lived your entire life around. “Between the almost had em’s and broken bones, the dream of a buckle I’ll never put on. I’m jaded, woah I hate it.” Everyone who’s ever heard me talk about softball has heard me say that I hate it, “but somehow the highs out way the lows”. “And I’d do it all again even though we both know, I’d still have to let you go” if I could do the last 10 years over again, the 3 hour practices, the all day tournaments, the hotel lobby conversations, the smiles, and the tears I would. But at the end of the day we all have a time we have to walk away whether it’s by choice or not.

I’m so incredibly blessed to say I’ve never had a coach that toke my love away from the game. But I especially want to be overly grateful for the last two years with Coach Knepper, I’ve truly never met a more selfless human. She is and always will be more than a Coach but a person who I know would do anything for me if I called.

As well as I’m so grateful to say I’ve grown up with a college softball coach as a mom. I’m only able to pride myself in my sportsmanship and attitude towards the game of softball because of my Mama. And of course thank you to both of my parents who made me earn everything I had in this sport instead of complaining for me to get my way.

And finally to my Sissy, these last two years playing with you have been the biggest blessing. I’ve had the privilege of knowing this girl for my entire life. When I say privilege I truly do mean that, she has inspired me for 16 years in softball but mostly in life she’s the best person you ever will meet. Sometimes I say growing up around a person so perfect was hard because I’ve always been second best but it was actually the biggest privilege of my life to learn from from her how to carry myself, stay dedicated, and ofc play softball. While I am the exact opposite of her, God knew I needed a life long role model and I got her. She has such a bright future ahead of her and I can’t wait to cheer her on from the sidelines where ever she may go as long as it’s not to far away from me. taken in Newton, Kansas by @codi.rose2
