Artist Spotlight: Low Freq

Before founding Black Rhino Radio, Low Freq amassed over two decades’ worth of experience, both behind the scenes and behind the decks. With a steady finger on Bucharest’s nightlife pulse, he’s watched trends come and go, continuously pushing for fresh talent, sounds, and communities.

His sensibilities span the full spectrum, slow to fast and old to new. As the host of two shows on the station, he highlights jazz, hip hop, ambient, and electronic music, with a particular taste for bass.

For this season’s opening residency, he joins forces with Alexandra in an unexpected meeting.

On September 19, we step into a new club season and open Black Rhino Residency at @clubcontrol with a lineup forged in the local scene.

As we reach the 28th instalment, we continue to show our appreciation and continued support for the local artists and our passion for the warm frequencies of the sound system, which continues to amplify all our residencies.

This season, Black Rhino Residency will promote the intersection of different musical genres and the way this reflects in the dancefloor energy, creating spaces where sound moves on different layers of tempo and harmony. By following this direction, we aim to bring more diversity and push the audience to explore through curiosity.

🍊 one year of ORANGE JAZZ 🎷

it’s already been a year since @teomurareanu started orange jazz as a monthly radio show on @blackrhino_radio, so we’re celebrating!

on october 11, we’re taking over @apollo111cinema for a special listening session, plus an audiovisual experiment. exciting.

Codin Orășeanu (@codin.oraseanu), co-founder of Black Rhino Radio and one of the people who gave us a place to grow from the beginning, will bring some of his favourite songs in a cinema.

plus, a group of visual artists will each interpret one of Codin’s songs for the big screen. you’ll hear the music while seeing what someone else felt when listening to it. kinda cool :)

🍂october 11, 19:00-22:00, Apollo111 Cinema, Bucharest, 130 seats.
🎞️ tickets available: apollo111.eventbook.ro - link in bio

hope to see you!

‘Sup jazz heads?

We are back and ready for a new season of ALT JAZZ, packed with forward-thinking artists who are leaving a visible footprint in today’s music universe.

We kick off the season Monday, September 7, with a talk where we discuss jazz intersections and the way the genre moves through hip-hop, soul, dub, disco, and how this type of moves influences artists and genres alike.

Joining the conversation are singer, composer and producer @ac.leonte , composer and bass player @lauraaabenedek , and the MC, DJ, and beat producer @vlad.dobrescu

Hosted by @blackrhino_radio co-founder @codin.oraseanu , the talk starts at 20:00 and is followed by DJ sets from Ana Cristina, Laura, and Codin, all taking place in the Front Room.

Come with an open mind to listen, learn and leave with the renewed belief in the power of conversation 💫

🎫 Free Entry taken in Control Club by @codin.oraseanu

Happy to kick the 2026-2027 season off tomorrow with the first instalment of Two Wrongs, and who better to take care of proceedings than English rap’s creme de la creme, @tinfoilfronts and @blackjosh616.

Ahead of the concert and club night, the two will stop by our studio for a live conversation with @codin.oraseanu, covering Blah Records, their latest release, It Made Sense at The Time, and many others.

Tune in and get in the mood for tomorrow evening!

This is probably one of the most representative pictures from the local sound system culture, showcasing the unity, friendship, and passion of like minded people.

The photo features a collab of Black Rhino & Riddim Bandits Sound System crew, working together to build the sound stack. Everything had to be ready in 45 minutes. Unity ❤️
