💻✨ HBCU Pride Meets Innovation!

Our Atlanta Chapter 3rd graders became game designers and technology creators during an exciting HBCU Heroes experience with Coding with Culture!

Led by Victor Hicks ("Coach Hicks”), scholars designed original heroes inspired by HBCUs and brought them to life in their own video game projects using paper-based planning and block-based coding. Along the way, they learned how to program movement, create game interactions, troubleshoot code and use computational thinking—all through a cultural lens celebrating Black excellence, HBCU pride and their own potential in technology. 💡🎮

A huge thank you to Coach Hicks and @codingwithculture for inspiring our young innovators, and to @inspireduatl for providing the space and technology that helped bring this hands-on experience to life! 💗💙

Our 3rd graders are learning to DESIGN. BUILD. LEAD. 🚀

Show our young tech creators some love in the comments! 👏🏾💻

We always talk about the lack of representation in STEM, but programs like Coding with Culture are helping to change that.

My kids have taken classes with CWC and loved it. If you want to learn more, check out codingwithculture.com and tell Coach Hicks that I sent you ❤️🖤👩🏾‍💻

Still thinking about Spelman. 💙
Recap from an incredible day as a vendor at the Spelman College Center of Excellence: Black Women in STEM Conference. The conversations I keep replaying — parents mapping out STEM journeys for their daughters, educators hungry for real AI literacy in their classrooms, Black women in STEM pouring into the generation coming up behind them.
This is the pipeline. This is exactly why Coding with Culture exists: our kids don’t just need a seat at the table, they need to know how to build it. From consumers to creators — always.
Were you there? Tell me your favorite moment below 👇🏾 And tag a future STEM queen who needs to see this.

Fall Break is THREE DAYS AWAY! Have you figured out what your child is doing? 👀

Parents, we know the struggle. School is out, schedules are complicated, and the last thing you want is your child spending four straight days scrolling, gaming, or saying, “I'm bored!”

What if they could spend Fall Break CREATING the technology they usually consume?

Introducing ROOTS & CODE: Fall Break CS & STEM Camp, presented by Coding with Culture!

October 13–16, we're turning Fall Break into four days of creativity, discovery, and Black excellence through hands-on computer science and STEM experiences designed for students in grades 3–8.

Your young innovator will explore:

• Artificial Intelligence — Learn how AI works and how to use it responsibly.

• Game Design & Coding — Move from playing games to understanding how to create them.

• Web & App Development — Explore how digital ideas become real-world creations.

• Computational Thinking — Build problem-solving, critical-thinking, and collaboration skills.

• Black Innovation & HBCU Culture — Discover their place in the world of technology through culturally relevant learning.

And here's the BEST PART: Your child doesn't have to know a single line of code to participate!

We're not just keeping children busy. We're building confidence, encouraging creativity, and showing Black and Brown students that they belong in every room where technology and innovation happen.

Black kids don’t become tech-savvy by accident.

They become creators, coders, designers, problem-solvers, and innovators because somebody made sure they had the opportunity to*do more than consume technology.

Our children already know how to watch the videos, play the games, use the apps, and navigate the devices.

The next step is teaching them to ask:

How was this built?
Can I change it?
Can I create my own?

That kind of confidence comes from exposure, practice, culturally relevant learning experiences, and adults who make room for Black children to see themselves as the people who build technology — not just use it

That’s the work.

Culture First. Code Always.
From Kindergarten to HBCU and beyond.
