Sometimes I have to stop and realize just how much we’ve built. 🤍

A marriage.
A home.
A family.
A photography business.
A podcast.
A life full of creativity.

I’ve gotten to build a business around something I love, while getting to watch Cody build his own creative life too. From playing guitar at our church to watching him play gigs alongside different artists, music has been such a big part of the life we’re creating together.

We moved from Hot Springs, Arkansas to Nashville, Tennessee and somehow found ourselves stepping into a completely new chapter.

Now we’re raising our daughter, building our businesses, making art, going to gigs, dreaming up new ideas, and figuring it all out as we go.

And I’m so excited to watch Kenzie Digitized Photography grow here in Nashville and Middle Tennessee. I’m especially excited for all of the 2027 couples I’ll get to photograph and the stories I’ll get to tell through my work.

And yes, Howell We Do It is coming back in 2027. 🥹

A lot has changed. A lot is still changing. But looking around at this life we’ve built, I’m really proud of it.

Here’s to the creativity, the chaos, the little moments, the big dreams, and everything still ahead. 🤍

The past two years have been nothing but blessing after blessing. Two years in, and I somehow fall more in love with you every single day. From the life we’ve built together to the newest little blessing we get to share, I’m more grateful for you than I could ever put into words.

Frankie Magnolia 🌸

Born Tuesday, September 2nd at 10:31 AM. A day before Cody’s birthday and her due date.

We were scheduled for an extra growth scan at our 40 week appointment because they thought she was little. She came out 21 inches long, by the way! No wonder I had back pain! But during that appointment, they discovered my amniotic fluid was dangerously low, and I was admitted to be induced immediately.

I could go on and on about everything that happened during labor that scared me. My epidural went wrong multiple times, hitting nerves and taking 6+ pokes to finally work. My blood pressure dropped scary low. My contractions were brutal, and I ended up pushing for 3 hours because Frankie decided to change positions last minute and come sunny side up. She also had her cord wrapped around her neck twice. They thought I might need a blood transfusion after delivery.

But I’d rather talk about how God was with us through all of it.

There were so many God winks along the way, we lost count.

During the failed epidural, I prayed out loud asking God to be with me, and in that moment, my nurse reminded me that Jesus was with me. My husband never once gave into fear. He just prayed over us and reminded me of the truth. My OB delivered Frankie while singing along to the worship music playing in the background, and Frankie was born to Reckless Love.

I keep thinking about how emotional I was about that extra growth scan, only to realize that if we hadn’t had it, we may have never known my amniotic fluid was dangerously low. God knew exactly what we needed before we even knew we needed it. Isn’t He amazing?

And through all of it, Cody was my rock. Today, we celebrated his birthday in the hospital, and I got to watch him step into the role of Dad with such ease. Watching him love her already is something I’ll never forget. I can’t wait to celebrate their birthdays together in the same week for the rest of our lives. My heart is so full, and I’m overwhelmed by God’s reckless love. by @codyashton_

10 days until baby Frankie’s due date. We’ll see when she decides to make her appearance and what special day God has picked out for her to arrive.

Her nursery is finally finished, and now I’m just checking off all the little things to keep myself busy while we wait for our baby girl. 😂

Winnie the Pooh was such a big part of my childhood, so I knew I wanted to incorporate it into her nursery somehow. Seeing it all come together has made this little room feel even more special. 🧸🍯

A huge shoutout to my wonderful mom, who helped tremendously with the nursery, Uncle Josh, who helped Cody hang the trim around the mural, Cody, for hanging and building quite literally everything, and everyone else who helped bring this vision to life. I’m so grateful for all of you.

2 weeks until baby Frankie’s due date and my husband’s birthday… and somehow just 4 weeks until our 2 year wedding anniversary. I have a feeling these next few weeks are going to be one beautiful, slightly crazed blur, so I’m jumping the gun and making this post now. 🤍

Looking through these photos from our engagement, to our wedding day, to our honeymoon, and now to maternity photos with our girl on the way, I can’t help but think about how intentional God has been in writing our story.

I’ve been asked so many times how we met, and every time someone asks, Cody looks at me to tell the full story. And every time, I think, how do I possibly summarize what God did in just a few short minutes? If anyone has heard our story, whether over a dinner conversation or sitting in the pews at our wedding, you know it’s one of those stories you genuinely couldn’t make up. I’ll forever be grateful for the way God brought us together.

One of the things I mentioned in our vows was how I finally felt at home with you. Growing up as a military kid, we moved so much that I never really had a sense of stability. Now, I get to look forward to the life we’re building together, brick by brick.

In our birthing class, we were asked to list qualities in our partner that would make them a great parent, and I immediately thought about Frankie and how lucky she is to have you as her dad.

You’re dependable, honest, loyal, patient, empathetic, hilarious, and always up for an adventure. You’re there for anyone in need, seek out truth in all things, and most importantly, pursue Jesus with your whole heart. You use every gift God has given you to glorify Him rather than yourself.

I can’t wait to watch you become a dad and see Frankie experience all the things I’ve loved about you for years. She is going to know so much love, laughter, adventure, and Jesus because she gets to grow up alongside you.

We’ve built this life together, and now we get to add another little piece to it. I can’t wait to see what God builds with the 3 of us.
