Beautiful weekend of chanting at the Rail Trail Cafe Kirtan Festival where I had the honor of drumming for @ninaraochant 🙏 She was the first female kirtan leader I began listening to a decade ago when I first discovered Bhakti, so this was such a treat to support her this weekend with rhythm. Cannot wait for her next album to drop Labor Day weekend - Get ready y’all it is 🔥🔥🔥

JOIN US ✨August 16 ✨for the next SUNDAY MORNING KIRTAN w/ Cody Rogowski & Friends at Ten Barn Farm!

Sunday mornings have long been a time for people to gather in community, sing together, and nourish the spirit. Let’s continue that tradition, Bhakti style!

Join us in a beautifully refurbished barn as we raise our voices and our vibration through group chanting. This month I’ll be joined by Keli Lalita, Bobbie Marchand, Jody Brookes and Anna Blackwell, all the way from Vermont!

And stick around- A delicious farm to table brunch will be available for purchase at the Ten Barn Kitchen from 9-2pm (reservations recommended but not required).

Heart cracked wide open this weekend as we brought KIRTAN to the THEATER at @hudsonhallny 🎭❤️🥹

We surprised a sold-out audience of nearly 400 with the unifying power of chanting, weaving a JAI MA kirtan into the final scene of ‘Behind the Curtain’.

This powerful production, created by the Camp Hill Players and beautifully directed by visionary @jody.brookes is an annual celebration of the immense talent and radiance of @camphill_hudson - featuring local artists, musicians, and actors of all abilities.

To all the beautiful souls of Camp Hill, it was such an honor and privilege to serve your mission in this way. I adore each and every one of you and hope this is not the last time we get to play ✨

Big shout out to @sethliebermanmusic @bobbiemarchand and Phil Roebuck for your mad mridanga, kartal and djembe skills, you were essential in bringing this soulful vision to life ❤️

Someone once told me if you want to write a book, you’ve got to ‘touch the book every day.’

Every. damn. day.

I still marvel at the fact that showing up to something regularly and consistently will make us better at just about anything we put our minds to. Even the things we never ever thought could possibly belong to us.

The fact that I can play this drum even at a pre-school level still blows my mind. When I first heard the mridanga drum live (thank you @janeshwardas ) I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I would play the song recordings on repeat in my headphones, close my eyes and imagine I was the one drumming it. Yet it always felt untouchable to me, meant for real musicians, life long rhythm experts, people who have been playing the drum since birth.

And definitely not meant for a woman.

This drum has taught me a lot, but I think the biggest one of all is that following the most ridiculous thing that makes your heart come alive will never fail you. No matter how in the clouds that thing might sound or seem.

I believe it’s meant for you.

Only caveat is this: You need to show up for it regularly and consistently. You need to touch the book every. damn. day.

Hudson Valley friends!

October 4th, you are invited for an ecstatic Sunday celebration of sacred song & dance at the Kiva! @codyrogowski opens the space with an uplifting Kirtan, sharing ancient mantras accompanied by the lovely and talented @avinash_jeff_barnes and @clarissapollack

We transition into a lively DJ set with @shanti_sophia bringing medicine through movement to Indian inspired dance tracks
Finally we wind down with a soothing sound bath to land us back on earth.

Schedule:

2:00-2:15 - Arrival
2:15-3:15 — Opening circle & kirtan
3:15-4:15 - DJ set
4:15-4:45 — Sound bath & closing circle
4:45-5:00 — Hugs & hangs
