I’ve never been particularly good at accepting the box we're handed.

Even as a kid, I remember looking at the way life was supposedly meant to go β€” the things you were supposed to want, the way you were supposed to act, the path you were supposed to follow β€” and thinking, why?

There were definitely years when this didn't exactly work to my advantage (to say the least) πŸ˜…

But finding art again eventually gave me something much bigger than a career. It gave me a way to build a life that actually felt like mine.

That’s probably why my creativity has never stayed neatly in one lane. I paint. I draw. I design things. I build brands. I make objects. I create experiences. Sometimes an idea turns into a canvas and sometimes it turns into something I couldn’t have predicted when I started.

To me, that’s the exciting part.

Once you stop needing somebody else to tell you what the rules are, you get to ask better questions:

What matters to me?
What am I curious about?
What do I want to make?
What kind of life do I want to create?

That freedom has become a huge part of what being an artist means to me.

I make things because I’m inspired by the world around me, and if something I make gives somebody else a little permission to follow their curiosity, question the box they've been given, or create a life that feels more like their own, then the loop keeps going.

Pieces now living with collectors from coast to coast, from paintings on pennies to canvases six feet wide.

Every piece starts with a moment.
The stillness of a landscape. The colors of a sunset that stop you in your tracks. The feeling of being somewhere new, experiencing something you wish you could hold onto.

Those moments inspire me to create.

But something remarkable happens when someone connects with the work. They bring their own memories, experiences, and emotions to it. They find something meaningful that I may never have imagined.
And suddenly, a moment from my life becomes part of theirs.

I've watched someone purchase my largest canvas on opening night of an exhibition. I've met collectors who couldn't choose between two paintings, so they took both. Some have become friends. Others have returned years later.

Every connection is different, but they all remind me of something I've come to appreciate:

The moment that inspires a painting may be fleeting, but the connection someone makes with it can endure.

If you're living with one of my pieces, I'd love to see where it's found a home. Send me a photo!

Buying original art shouldn't be complicated. And you should never feel uncomfortable asking questions about it.

If you've ever seen a piece you loved but weren't sure how to go about purchasing it, this one's for you.

Here's how it works:

🎨 Find something that's speaking to you. Browse available originals at codythecreative.com/shop-original-art (link in bio). Prices are listed, and you can purchase directly through the site using secure checkout powered by Stripe.

πŸ“¦ Shipping is included within the contiguous 48 states. Shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and international destinations is available at an additional cost. Larger works are professionally packed to help ensure they arrive safely.

πŸ–ΌοΈ Need framing? I work with professional framers that I trust and am happy to help you find the right presentation for your space and budget. Just reach out!

✨ Have something else in mind? I'm always open to discussing commissions. From paintings and pastels to entirely different creative projects, I've done a WIDE variety of commission work. Let's talk about what you're imagining.

πŸ’³ Payment options: Buy now, pay later options available at checkout, including Afterpay and Klarna.

A few things worth knowing: Original artwork sales are final, so there are no returns for a change of mind. If something arrives damaged, however, I'll work with you to make it right.

And perhaps most importantly, you don't have to know anything about buying art to start collecting it.

Have a question about a piece, pricing, framing, or anything else? Send me a DM. You'll always hear directly from me.

The only wrong question is the one you never ask. πŸ‘ŠπŸ‘¨β€πŸŽ¨ by @codythecreative

This is a post dedicated to @sfroschauerart my creative, inspirational brother in arms (a.k.a. art with purpose). If you aren't familiar with his work, go check him out ( you might find that you just weren't aware who the artist behind all those inspriational street signs was #wordonthestreet )

I love that I was able to snap this while Scott was showing me a trick that movie stars would use when shooting in bright settings: they'd close their eyes and look to the light so they wouldn't be squinting on camera.
πŸ“Έ
To the light, brother.

There I was wanting to look kool with my ripped jeans, leather jacket, and our collaborative piece, and he had me cracking up just being a goof.

Exhibit A πŸ˜‚

I asked Scott for a recommendation on scenic spots to draw the sunset, and he pointed me to Deukmajian Park where he had a Breathe sign.

I made it there in time and named the piece, "Breathe the Light."
πŸ₯Ί Really glad he left me with this.

Do you have two sides of yourself that make no sense together, like me?

Hi, I'm Cody πŸ§‘β€πŸŽ¨ I spend way too much time chasing sunsets and views that stop me in my tracks; I'm obsessed with inspiration and the feeling it gives me; and I consistently overthink just about everything πŸ˜… if any of this is your vibe too, let's be friends πŸ‘―β€β™‚οΈ by @codythecreative
