i made this around september/october of 2024 and it’s crazy how much their characters have been developed (even though they didn’t change too much visually) by @coeursvoiles

ezra and his sons! he’s like 48 in this and is managing his trauma well which means he goes back to his awful military fivehead bowl cut
the one on the left is cyrille-yves, the younger of the two boys! he’s the twin brother of juliette and a striking copy of his father. he’s a total mama’s boy and as the spare spends his time figuring out what he wants to do with his life
the one on the right is théodore-toussaint, firstborn heir to the valencourt duchy. he struggles BADLY with internalized colorism/racism. he’s the darkest of all his siblings and resembles his mother the most which makes him feel very insecure about his title as heir. he grapples with resenting his brother who looks fully laverren and also seems to never struggle in life. because of this he also lowkey resents his mother too… he doesn’t have a reason why, but it’s just a biting feeling. ezra is particularly harsh on him because of this. honestly théodore also dislikes his father too, he’s just a miserable asshole for the time being

daya and her daughters! she has five children with ezra and three of them are girls

the one on the left is juliette: named after ezra’s beloved julien, she’s the eldest daughter and the one who takes after her father the most. she inherited that valencourt depression so she struggles with a lot of things, but hey Romanticism just dropped so it’s kinda cool to be miserable now! she finds solace in writing and poetry.

the one that looks exactly like daya is seraphine! she is the next daughter of mayari and her power is hydromancy, which has never been seen before. daya struggled to give birth to her, she was born very premature on a new moon which may be the reason why her power is so unique. so she returns to her mother’s homeland in soledad to join the church and find herself.

the little one is celeste-augustine! after seraphine’s birth which almost resulted in her death and daya struggling badly with childbed fever, ezra made the decision that they weren’t going to have any more children. but of course this is the late 18th century and practical condoms don’t exist so they have their oopsie baby.

i don’t mean to post daya and ezra couple art over and over this is just something from like a month ago that i finished up i promise im doing other stuff… this is like one of their first more formal portraits together after getting married by @coeursvoiles
