Last weekend I participated in Cup Tasters second time ever, and this time managed to sip myself to victory 🕺🥄 The competition was really tight and thrilling with so many talented tasters, and I'm really humbeled about this win! Thanks to all the fellow competitors for the challenge! You all rock!

Congrats to Sauli Ahto for second place and Aleksandra Morozova for the third place! The final was a THRILLER!

Overall I managed to get 14/15 coffees right through all the three rounds. Never thought it would go that well, but I guess practice has payed off ✌️

Since Coffee Competitions Finland is still independent and not under SCA, the competition rules differed in a way that instead of 8 sets of 3 coffees, we competed with 5 sets of three coffees. It also means, that Finland is not represented in World Cup Tasters Championships. But instead I won a prize trip to Berlin Coffee Week in September and really looking forward to it! 🤩

Thank you @coffeecompetitionsfinland for the great efforts to build finnish coffee competition scene 🙌 And thanks to the whole crew for organizing such a professional and smooth Cup Tasters event 🫶 You're the best!

What a great weekend it was in Warsaw! Competed in regional Polish AeroPress Championship eliminations in Warsaw and placed second 🥈 So earned a spot in national championships 🕺 Didn't go through the first round there but I'm still super happy about this memorable experience! 🖤

Thank you @jlbrewing for inviting me to this great adventure and it was a pleasure to meet you in person! 😊 Thank you @aeropresspoland @specialty.girls @runway.hub @cophi.solutions for the great events and welcoming me in! Hats off to @aeropresspoland for pulling off the big event and eliminations so smoothly! 🫡 It was also a great pleasure to meet new amazing people and have a peak to Polish specialty coffee scene! ☕

Finnish AeroPress Championship '24 was not in my favour. Blasted the glass pitcher while pressing and couldn't serve any coffee to judges 💥💦🤠

Glad I could serve my coffee to the audience and judges later on and got really positive feedback about it.

Also got many questions about my recipe so here you go! Try it out and let me know what you think ✌️😊

Brewer position: Inverted
Filter type: Original paper filter (one filter + metal: E&B filter disk 62 - Fine)
Filter prep: Rinsed with hot water
Coffee weight: 18 g
Grinder: Comandante C40 MK4
Grind size: 29 clicks
Type of water: Tap water from Joensuu, Finland
Temperature: 66 & 96 °C
Total brew time: 2:30

Step 1: Pour 45g of 66 °C water and rinse the filter. PUT THE KETTLE BACK TO BASE AND HEAT TO 96 °C. Stir like there is no tomorrow until 00:45. Let it steep until water is heated. Add cold steel balls to server. I used two espresso Paragon balls by @nucleuscoffeetools

Step 2: At ~1:15 Pour water in circular motion, while rotating AeroPress until 150 g of overall water.

Step 3: stir back and forth 6 + 6 + 6

Step 4: Put on the filter cap and push the excess air out.

Step 6: At 2:25 Flip the AeroPress and start pushing at 2:30. Aim to 3:00.

Step 7: Put empty server on scale and tare. Pour the concentrate to the server without frozen balls, should be around 120 g. Dilute with 96 °C water up to 152 g.

Step 8: Pour into serving cup with latte art style.
